On this point, I have to say my two favorite records of all time are Cities and Brother, Sister and I didn't slowly arrive at that conclusion or let the albums sit. They blew my mind instantly. I knew immediately that I'd be listening for years and it wasn't just new album bias. Almost all my favorite albums have left a super strong first impression that only grows with time.

I haven't even heard ABMTTS yet but just based on the comments and my love for the singles I'm anticipating a similar scenario.

Definitely their most "musically accomplished" and talented album. Just a different style that fits different tastes. Some people like METN, some like LAVLAC, some like SM, and by golly some people like Cope/Hope best. I think it's cool when a band can evolve and master different corners of a musical genre while staying the same at core and not throwing away their old stuff *cough* mumford *cough*. Gives people something to love no matter what their style is. I think you can both say this isn't your favorite or is your favorite right off the bat, but I think for most people it takes some time.

The true test of a good band are the fans arguing over which album is the best, and going further, arguing which songs on those favorite albums are the best.

Prior to today, ILAVLAC was my favorite MO record, but an argument could be made for their other albums in my mind. A Black Mile takes it for me, no question. First impressions, a couple of spins, and I know this one is special.

ive had this for like two months and i think its at least as good as ILAV so idk i just think its a really well made album and comparing their albums to each other is kind of a disservice to how good this band is

i like bands who can't sing good Supporter

its kinda weird how the internet has made everyone always in such a rush to have an opinion one way or another on something. im definitely guilty.

makes me kinda yearn for the days when i'd just cop a cd on release day at best buy and live with it on my own terms without all the outside noise swaying me one way or another.

Yea, not to mention the days when the amount of music you could consume directly correlated with how much you could afford to buy. I'd get an album and keep it in my car CD player for months. Now I'm overwhelmed by options I move on from stuff I love pretty fast. I guess it's a good problem to have at times, but I probably won't have a connection to a record like I did when I was younger.

So is this not officially streaming anywhere early? I'm at work and would love to listen to it today.

Yea it's so weird. I do it to. I'm very quick with new albums to decide if it's going to have AOTY potential, where it ranks in the bands discography, what my favorite songs are and more after like 3 listens, which is obviously not truly enough.

I assume you're talking about the show at Grimey's in Nashville? Just curious, I'm headed up there from chattanooga and plan on getting there around 9:00-9:30. I love Grimey's but don't have much experience with in-store performances there. Do you think that's early enough?

Man. I'm listening to COPE in a coffee shop and bobbing my head like a weirdo. This is easily their weakest album to me and it's still ridiculously good. I love.. so much.. about the things this band chooses to be.
