Didn't say just "metal" they fit into a different sub genre of it. If that were the case I'd of said Meshuggah.

Is it metal to be signed to Pure Noise with all the pop-punk bands?

Nah I'm pretty sure it's been the same handful of people over the course of 3 days. What fun would I have mocking you back and making fun of a band I like?

i wish people would start thinking of hopeless the same way they think about pure noise, it's starting to get there a little bit but hopeless has been truly horrible on a lot of levels in recent years

eh ive become desensitized, all companies in all industries will do anything for their profits in capitalism and boycotts have largely been ineffective on a large scale

@sophos34 Robbers cover was bad as well. Let's add shitty guitars and lets take video of me looking like im screaming at the top of my lungs.

If a shitty cover garners 70k views I think I need to get into that business. Anyone in this thread want to start a band covering The 1975's discography? Maybe as a homage to this thread we'll make it sound like Counterparts are covering the songs?

  20. Here's my take on the whole Pure Noise thing. Let me preface this by saying yes, they're awful. I DO NOT condone whatsoever victim blaming or covering things up at all. But the band did the same thing they did when they signed with Victory. They really had little options since they aren't that big, and didn't have much buzz surrounding them at the time they signed. So they had the option of sign to a label with some sketchy background or end their career. Music is unfortunately a selfish industry.

Also, can whoever posted shed some light on what's up with Hopeless?

Edit: I realized this is The 1975's thread, not Counterparts. Although at this point aren't they kind of the same?

hopeless has allowed neck deep and moose blood to carry on even with disgusting dudes that have done gross things in the band, and is one of the least diverse labels out there

  22. Fair point. Legitimately asking, what do you think of my take on the Pure Noise thing? I was a little hesitant to post at first and I believe it was you who called me out on my use of a problematic term a few pages ago.

i actually was not the one who called you out, hah.

pure noise is incredibly problematic for the same reasons as hopeless, though even more obviously so because of the whole JJR thing. i'm not all into boycotting (especially with bands like gates who really just don't have anything to do with it and i feel bad for them) but it's important to acknowledge how problematic their actions are. it's legitimately ridiculous that within hundreds of members of bands between the two labels, i'm pretty sure i can count the number of women in bands on one hand.

I know we arent actually talking about the 1975 but ive been thinking seriously about getting a tattoo of "la poesie est dans la rue en couleur pleine de vie" for a few weeks and then they posted a pic on instagram with it today and im taking it as a sign as i should just do it.

  25. This is a very fair point that I 100% agree with. This scene is largely dominated by white men, but there are tons of more talented bands with diverse lineups.
