I watched the new music video yesterday and I adore it.

  4. Went to their Vegas show last night. Such a great performance. The light show was amazing and coordinated perfect for each song. They played for about 1 hour 45 mins which was awesome.

Anyone know of any decent full show videos out from their current tour?

    Sending my love

So I went to see The 1975 in Las Vegas last night. First time seeing them and holy hell did I have the best time. Now, I rarely ever drink, but in honor of the band I thought I'd have a glass or nine of red wine so I was definitely in the zone. I was overwhelmed at how great the crowd was (at least where I was, back 1/3 of the GA floor). Everyone around me was going nuts the whole time, and I was definitely surprised so many people knew every word to every song! I seriously thought the floor was going to cave in towards the end with those huge three songs to finish the set. Can't wait to see them again in a week at Red Rocks! It's going to be a totally different vibe at that show.

EDIT: Great moment in this video of "Heart Out" - the whole crowd starts jumping during the first chorus causing Matty to laugh and tell us "Chill the fuck out, Vegas!"

Went last night too, the energy from the crowd was awesome. It was actually my first time in The Chelsea so I had no idea the floors did that haha

  9. If I Believe You was so good live. Possibly my favorite part of the show. Somebody Else is my favorite track from the new album so that was up there for me too. Another bright spot was the opening. The energy in that place when the opening riff for Love Me hit was incredible.

  13. I love how the snare on Love Me has the same distorted sound as the one on the City. The drums on both sound so good.

New thing: Listening to "Paris" by Fickle Friends and then listening to "Paris" by the 1975.

They compliment each other so well.

Not sure if it has been mentioned, but some of the ambient background sounds have also been repeated on the second album. I distinctly remember hearing the sounds that open Sex on the second album, which is cool cause I remember an interview where Matty said they got that sound, and the key of the song, because they heard a truck's brakes screech somewhere down the road.

@cshadows2887 I remember you were recommending some albums on AP that you could definitely tell The 1975 were influenced by on their new album. I remember you had mentioned INXS and was wondering which albums from them I should check out. My dad has Kick, so I'm thinking of starting there. Also, was wondering if you could name off any other albums that came to your mind. Was meaning to get around to them, then the switch to this site happened.

Kick ! That album fucking rules.

And damn...I wish I could go look at that list again. Haha. It was definitely targeted toward songs more than albums, but I did come back to Mosaic by Wang Chung a bit for some reason.

Haha, well I'm glad my dad has Kick then! A friend of mine I personally know, who just started getting into The 1975 over the last year or so, who listens to a lot of older music also told me he heard INXS a bit on the new album (I think he said mostly in Love Me), so I'm glad I have one thing to go off of.

Oh yeah, "Love Me" is an absolute dead ringer.

I want to say @Jason Tate made a Spotify playlist of my list in that thread? Maybe he could post it?

  20. It's on Apple Music I'll see what it'll let me share, cause sometimes if they're my own files it doesn't work right.

I was raised more on hair metal and grunge acts by my dad growing up. He was always playing Iron Maiden's Number Of The Beast when my mom and siblings would come home from church when I used to go. He would play Poison, AC/DC, Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, etc. Believe or not, I've never listened to a Michael Jackson or Prince album in full, or probably any other artists from 80s that The 1975 takes influence from, so I'm really excited to dig into the pop side of the 80s that helped create a band like The 1975 haha.

Prince is our classic artist of the week, so there's never been a better time. Haha

But yeah people have such an idea of what "the 80s" were, but it was as insanely diverse an era as any. To jump from The Number of the Beast to Purple Rain to Let It Be to Toto IV to Pontiac in the same decade is just exciting as fuck if you crave variety, which I do.

I'm trying to grab all the CDs my dad would put on while I was growing up and uploading them to my iTunes right now actually. It's a ton of fun. So glad the semester is just about over for me now too so I can spend the summer just diving into the 80s. Feels like a perfect time to start as I'm seeing The 1975 in two and a half weeks now.

Matty played "She Lays Down" for the first time tonight. Red Rocks lit up with cellphone flashlights. It was the most poignant music experience I've ever had.
