When you hit a mothafucka, you hit that mothafucka Prestigious

I think for most there is some truth to this. Though I always thought NFG and TSL were boring and generic too haha even when I loved pop punk, was kinda like "if its just power chords and easy melodies, why wouldnt i just listen to less whiney skate punk bands like Millencollin and Lagwagon instead".

More so listened to the instrumentally detailed bands like Brand New, Say Anything, Early November, Boys Night Out, Northstar etc from this scene.

One of my favorite albums of 2014, shame they broke up.

Don't think it gets much poppier than Masked Intruder. I haven't had that much fun listening to albums / seeing their live show in a long time

Spraynard is/was good pop-punk, good shoutout.

Anyone looking for more pop than punk can't really go wrong with The Maine, I wanted to hate those guys but they write really good catchy music

Been silent for awhile and Pat now is in a new band. I think they gave it another go with Mable and didn't really grow so they went back to being dormant

People in this thread should check out the debut Grayscale album. Think it's a good shout for this kind of stuff.

I feel like the grayscale record is this year's trash boat record. Both slightly better than average pop punk albums that get lots of praise that I don't understand. Neither are bad but neither stand out much to me

Any news on Man Overboard getting back together? I always found their music catchy and a little less heavy than most of the stuff in the genre.

They said they were going on a two year hiatus right after Heavy Love came out (June 2015), so its been just a little over two years now. Theyre one of my favorite bands so i was hoping they would come back around.

No way! Scratch, Radio Player, Overrated, One That Got Away, and Racecars are all awesome songs. Whole album's under 40min it just goes street from jam to jam. Dual singers help vary up the sound so it doesn't get same-y.

    FM Static's first album:

Stacked with great songs front-to-back. Most famous one is "Definitely Maybe", but I'm partial to "Three Days Later", "Hold Me Twice", and "The Notion". Closing track "Hey Now" was "Hey There Delilah" two years early without the kitschy narrative.

I think it sounds really dated mostly. Even songs I like, like stuck, definitely sound like products of their time

As a side note, I miss when pop punk bands had a bunch of singers
