A quick sidebar. I don't own a DS and am thinking about grabbing the new 2DS XL unless someone can sell me on the merit (other than the fact that it's about half the cost) of the standard 2DS. Any standard edition 2DS fans?

 

As someone who owns an N3DSXL, I think 2DS XL is the way to go. It just looks so awesome, and is lighter. Also more powerful than the standard 2DS.

 

Part of me wants to switch me N3DS for the 2DS XL

 

The 2DS XL is definitely the peak form factor for the whole DS family. Only negative I've seen is that the speakers are kinda shoved in and tinny.

I would trade my N3DS XL probably but honestly I love the 3D too much

 

I used the 2DS to play through Pokémon and didn’t really like it, so I upgraded to the New 3DS and handed down the 2DS to my 5 year old son (he loves it). The lack of clamshell, smaller screen, and the fact that I couldn’t play SNES virtual console games all lead me to the upgrade. I am seriously considering a 2DSXL though for the bigger screen, ha. I don’t care too much for the 3D aspect.

 

I gave 3D a shot, and enjoyed it in some games - ALBW, Super Mario Land, etc - but I always ended up turning it off.

Cool feature though. A part of me wished it had caught on.

 

ALBW was a beaut, the only game I can think of that maintained a dipless 60 frames with 3D on.

Monster Hunter 4 was the ultimate(pun fucking intended) title for me though. The added depth perception when I jumped off a 100 foot cliff to mount a Rathean made it all the sweeter.

I'd get a New 3DSXL personally because some games shine in 3D and the 3D is actually good on New 3DS

 

Based on what's there in the mobile app, I feel like it'll be so clunky. I wonder if they have an opening for an ios developer lol.

I think it might be faith it starts right when I get off and at the Gamestop right down the street from my work.

 

Local store broke street date but they ran out of copies so fast.

So anxious for tomorrow haha.

 

The mobile app based on what I've been reading seem so crappy.

I don't understand why it's so crappy though. The native iOS/Android libraries can pretty much already handle background requests so why does it feel like the app is coded in potato

 

i'm still trying to decide if i should cancel my amazon physical splatoon 2 order last minute and grab it digitally at midnight instead. it's the kind of game i should probably always have on my switch but amazon's cheaper.

Bigger screens, better controls and faster processor. New 2DS is certainly the way to go

 

I'm not a huge fan of 3D in general, but I feel like just having the 3D slider barely turned on makes most games look better on the New 3DS, compared to having it turned off. Plus people are saying that Metroid Samus Returns has the most amazing 3D on the system yet. So I certainly won't be downgrading to a New 2DS anytime soon.

 

Still crushing BOTW. Got my house, decked it out, got the last fairy fountain, did some upgrades. Got around 100 shrines, time to get the rest before trying the new dlc gauntlet mode thingy.

 

I've tried 3D on my 3DS and I hate it, I never use it.

 

It's bad on 3DS but good on New 3DS, if the developers but in the effort that is

 

Yeah I had it ordered on Amazon but then canceled because I feel like I'll hardly play it if I have to physically switch out the cartridges because I'm a lazy fuck
