i love be gone because it shows that they're willing to get weird on their records.

i'm writing a book, leave me alone.

Going off of what Kennedy said earlier, Brand New to me, at this stage of my life, is like a great meal or beverage. Could I eat or drink it every day? Sure. But it's better when indulged in sparingly.

Maybe it has to do with me listening to almost nothing but Deja for '03-'04 and TDAG for '06-'07 that I've "had my fill", but also, I can pluck any of their songs from memory and 'play' them when I want to that I don't actually need the songs on to hear them.

I also think that because I have so, so, so many memories tied up in their catalog that I want to quit hogging them all for Brand New. So I listen to other stuff and make new connections with songs / albums / bands with current memories instating of piling new experiences onto Deja or TDAG or any of their other works.

I saw Citizen this week for the first time now that's a band I can't wait to see grow/progress/evolve even more. The leap from Youth to EIGTH was impressive imo but I think that the best is yet to come for those guys.

Foxing is the band that I'm excited to see progress. Dealer was a massive leap from The Albatross. They did mention on the latest Audiotree session that touring with Brand New had some impact on how they perform as a band now.

And they recorded some of Dealer in that studio Brand New built. Guess it's time for me to revisit that one. Wasnt a big fan of The Albatross but I did like Dealer more.

I think I still like The Albatross more than Dealer. I've had more time with their debut though so maybe that'll change.

Haha wasn't it Foxing that claimed Brand New didn't talk to them at all when they toured?

we've seen the shadow of the axe before Supporter

I wouldn't listen to Brand New nearly as much as I do now if it wasn't for my fiance always wanting to listen to them.

Not that that's a bad thing; but I have just listened to all their songs so many times, that I am to the point now where I kind of get bored with them.

I actually find myself skipping through their albums quite a bit.

i totally relate to this. for me, the Hotelier is basically now, what Brand New was to me growing up. and again, not as a replacement... but their records are beginning to mean just as much to me in different ways because of a different time of my life.

Yeah for me it's Pianos Become The Teeth, Keep You just hits me so hard, the way Devil and God hit me when it came out and I was in highschool. I would also probably throw The Hotelier in there as well, I go back to them and Pianos so often.

And country music. I listen to David Ramirez and Jason Isbell and stuff like that more than anything now, which I never thought I would. They have totally become the soundtrack to my life as I start to approach my late twenties.

And yet if I'm asked who my favorite band is, without hesitation I say Brand New.

I remember how the Home, Like NoPlace Is There review on the old site compared the album opener to the chaotic release of You Won't Know

Very different sound than Brand New, but you'll most likely like them a lot.

@fenway89 Keep You is one of my favorite releases of recent past too

I still love the last three albums Brand New has done (never liked YFW). TDAG is one of my all-time favorite albums. With that being said, I don't find myself listening to them frequently. Whenever I do listen to them it's usually TDAG or Daisy, but I do have a personal nostalgic connection Deja. Regardless, I'm always reminded of how great this band has become since YFW and even though they aren't in my regular listening habits and probably aren't a top 10 favorite band for me anymore they are still an important band to me.

    Someday I’ll find me Prestigious

I listen to music as albums, and can't separate the songs from the order they're tracked as a cohesive set. When it comes to Brand New, and a few other bands, I have to listen to the album straight through, no stopping.

Which for Brand New, I need to set aside an hour of time that I won't be interrupted by anything.

As a husband, father, working full-time (at a job that requires way more than 40 hours a week), setting aside that time becomes increasingly difficult. In that way, I suppose I don't get to listen to these albums as much as I'd like to.

  22. The Mysterious

Yes...but a thing isn't beautiful because it lasts

I can relate to this so much right now; thanks for breaking it down. Brand New aside, a decent amount of the desire to digest music in a concentrated method still resides, but the hours in a day...life simply doesn't hand them out as freely as it used to.

Zack Tweeted "Big Day" about an hour ago. Ok crazy people, let's freak out like its Brand New related, even through its like 95% probably not.

On second thought, let's maybe not freak out.
