Holy shit, "The Word You Wield." How did I forget about these songs? When is the last time I listened to disc two? Haha

 

thats my exhibit A for the heavier, almost metal sounding tracks haha. it gets super heavy in that chorus and outro but then the verses are like subdued with piano playing in the background

 

one of the biggest "what the fuck" moments on that album for me is the outro to "That Is Why". suddenly it shifts into this electronic beat with this atmospheric organ-sounding part and just one lyric being repeated over and over

 

"I WATCH FROZEN STARS BURN OUT ON THE WAY BACK HOME"

 

its like that was supposed to be its own song and he just put it on the end of that song, but it works so w/e

the title track of IDOTG is among my favorite SA songs i love just how angry Max sounds

 

Those little intros and outros are some of the best moments of the album, the end of "Skinny, Mean Man" is similar. And yeah, the title track rules. That Gerard Way spot.

Okay, there's like fucking beatboxing at the end of "About Falling," this album fucking rules. Can't say "You're the Wanker, If Anyone Is" has aged well, though.

 

The fucking bridge of World You Wield is one of the all time best SA moments.

 

"Just say Maxim...I love you...I miss you...and no one will do but you."

 

Need to shout out Spores, which is my favorite IDOTG song and was my favorite SA song for a long time.

 

Waiting to make my list until after work but I've moved on to self-titled. Lots that I love and a little that irks me about this album, but I can't not smile at "Crush'd." "We should make a verbal agreement to only kiss each other!"

also "She Won't Follow You" is so fucking good, first Sherri appearance on a SA track if I'm not mistaken

 

"Cemetery" is still GOAT. "Mara and Me" through that song is like a perfect four-song sequence.

still not a fan of "Young Dumb and Stung" though

edit: Oh wow, haven't heard any of these S/T B-sides. I've got the demo CD, but never heard the deluxe tracks. I like these songs better than some of the actual album tracks haha. Only one I can't seem to track down is "I Could Be President"

 

I'm not sure, but I ended up buying it from iTunes because I was sick of not being able to stream it

 

I now need to do a full listen of IDOTG. God damn if this thread hasn't been reminding me of everything I love about this band/person/whatever it is now.

 

But my cd version of the album is a clean version and it's all I have right now since it's not on Apple Music Oh well I'll just fill in the cuss words myself.

 

Wasn't there a rumor that "your other suitors are no poets, they're only actors who can play guitar" from Crush'd and "Mr Cred" from She Won't Follow You are about Jesse Lacey as well

 

I know the second line was rumored to be about Jesse but Max denied it an an AMA and said he liked Jesse

 

I was wrong to think 14 tracks was possible, haha. I got rid of the songs that hadn't aged as well and had to cut some tracks I really like, but didn't feel as necessary to the overall concept of the record. I'm pretty confident that this could stand up to ...IARB though.

I don't like that song at all, haha.

 

I also kind of hate Vexed so I'm surprised to see it on both of the other lists, ha.

 

Another one of my favs, love the chorus.

 

I also completely forgot about the amazing ending of "Plea" sharing be background vocals/lyrics of Saves The Day - Rocks Tonic Juice Magic.
