that should of been the ISARB Disc 1 closer if you ask me.

  3. I have never heard that song, but if you're telling me it would make a better closer than "Admit It!!!," I better find it.

idk why but ive always thought that was such a charming lyric in "Tickle Me Red"

that site was brilliant. idk who ran it but i do know Max gave it his blessing. i think he even submitted songs from the really really early days.

did we ever find out about those IDOTG b-sides? i thought i remember Max saying there were some that existed

Is there a reason why IDOTG isn't on Apple Music?

"Tickle Me Red" was originally going to be on Disc 1 of IDOTG - but then Max wrote "An Insult To The Dead" and it got replaced. So within the track listing - that's where it would've been.

I got this information from their old guitarist Jake.

Finally broke and spent $80 for In Defense of the Genre on vinyl. It's both my favorite Say Anything record, and was the only one I didn't have on vinyl. So I guess this was inevitable. Haha

I create content for some of your favorite artists

Listened to IDOTG today and still feel it should have been one single disc rather than a double album. Trimmed to 11 tracks it would have been killer

There are only 2 or 3 songs I wouldn't mind being cut from IDOTG. Haha Very attached to that record, so I'm glad it's 27 songs.

Whoa what the hell. I had no idea it's gotten so expensive. I'd have probably sold you mine for less if I knew you were looking tbh.

Damn I didn't even know you had it, honestly. I'm kind of just glad I got it at this point though. There's very few for sale anywhere anymore. And $80 is better than $200-300 like Blue Sky Noise is going for (the other big for me record I need).

Yeah, $80 is kinda surprising, I think my Hot Topic exclusive copy was on clearance when I got it but that was nearly five years ago, definitely worth the money imo especially if it means that much to you

someone was selling blue sky noise on a Facebook board I'm on for $85 like last week. It looked like the person was struggling to get a buyer. If you're interested I can try to find it...

I have two copies of In Defense because of hot topic specials at that time. I think my one copy was $30 from SRC, one was $10-15 range from HT due to discount codes/prices.

Ok, but like, instead of just getting 11 tracks, you get a hell of a lot more than that. What a bonus, man!

That is sort of tempting, but I don't have the money now and am pretty sure a repress is coming soon since Hopeless bought the rights to that record. But thank you :)

both discs are quality but i think the first disc is stronger aside from "Died A Jew". "Tickle Me Red" wouldve been an interesting choice on IDOTG. theres a lot of neat rumors that circulated around that time, like "Skinny, Mean Man" being about John Nolan, Jesse Lacey turning down a guest vocal appearance on "Vexed", a supposed 3rd disc of b-sides/demos that never saw the light of day, stuff like that. idk how credible that last part is just because i heard it second hand from someone who also heard it second hand so it could just be bs.

Currently listening to IDOTG to create a definitive single-disc version. I do think a lot of these songs are more important to the overall concept of the record than I ever realized when I was younger, but yeah, some of it could be trimmed.

Another underrated SA tune: "Sorry, Dudes. My Bad." Love hearing Chris Conley's pre-Two Tongues guest spot, and the spoken word segment always cracks me up.

"Max - I will sell you this xanax for $5. Then we can go to the Wafflehouse, and talk about Anna, and it'll be chronic!"

I had a 16 song version or something ages ago that I'd put on par with IARB.

i love how much ground Max covers musically. sure boil it down and its Max "defending" like rock/punk but theres also acoustic ballads, electronic grooves, heavy distorted almost metal sounding guitars, atmospheric tracks, a loungey piano driven jazz song, it all conveys these moods so well in addition to the lyrics.

yeah Chris' part is really funny and I'd like to think the part in My Greatest Fear Is Splendid about Chris finding him in a pool of alcohol on the ground is a fun little reference back to that

  24. I'm gonna try to cut it down to 14 if possible. I'd definitely agree that the best moments on this album are on par with ...IARB.

I also never noticed how well the keys are utilized on this album. The piano in "No Soul" and the synth throughout a lot of this really lends to the songs imo

  25. "But I'm up for it if you are, handsome. Let's keep that morning star burning."

Forgot how much I loved this track, too. Damn. More great piano flourishes, haha.
