Anybody else not able to get into ILaV? It just doesn't sound like Andy to me. Love the rest of the discography and have the new album pre-ordered.

 

That's my second favorite Manchester record but he was definitely trying to change his voice more on those releases. He said he wasn't as confident in his own voice at that time.

 

Still sounds like Andy to me. I also got into them with that record, so I'm not a good person to use as a reference

 

I've never listened to I'm Like a Virgin if I'm being honest.

 

A handful of their best songs are off that album

ILAV has a lot of my favorite Manchester songs

ILAV is fine, I just find it extremely overrated

 

You included none of the the ones that will be on my list. Lol.

 

ILAVLAC is my favorite Manchester Orchestra record.

 

It's a fantastic debut. Rough around the edges in some spots, but in some cases it's better for it. They've obviously grown so much as songwriters, but there are so many gems on Virgin.

 

Listen to Golden Ticket then just jump back to literally any of their other records
