I was right there with you but looked it up and apparently it's the other. Weird.

 

ive seen it both ways upon looking it up

 

Pulled out my album booklet

"Cause I'm gonna mess your life up, gonna wanna tape my mouth shut"

 

Now it's just weird that the other version is going around.

Listening through the album again for the first time in a week or so. It's so great.

 

I like it both ways. Ha.
But now I'm never gonna remember which is right.

 

I haven't been keeping up... is it a #hottake to say that Pure Heroine is way more memorable than this album?

It's good and all, but I don't think time will be kind to this one.

 

It's certainly against the grain of the current Lorde narrative. Personally I think this is 1000% better but the first album maybe had a few better songs. I can't even remember what some of those songs sound like.

 

Yeah this album has stuck with me really well

 

Both are great in their own ways.

 

I love both but I already like Melodrama more.

 

I think it's pretty analogous to xx s/t vs I See You. Both are great in their own right, but 20 years from now will people remember the album with the groundbreaking feel and sound or that album that adds some nice contemporary pop aesthetic on it?

 

Not sure about Lorde but I think more people will remember I See You tbh.

I See You isn't that good though

If anything, In Colour should be the lasting statement from that camp

 

This post is both offensive and beautiful

 

I by no means think it's a bad album, but it felt very safe to me? Subdued and muted and nice enough but essentially exactly what I expected from them. It was pretty hard to get excited about it aside from some of Jamie's more colourful touches (heh) which felt really new and invigorating when he was allowed to fully explore them on his own.

 

I mean, not to derail the Lorde thread with the xx, but I don't think there's anything "safe" about the album, especially given it alienated some older fans such as yourself. Nor is it "subdued" or "muted," at least compared to the older stuff! I think they took a fair amount of risks on it, especially after Coexist feeling like a staler version of the S/T.

 

The new xx is amazing. New lorde is also amazing

 

I agree Jamie and Ella should collaborate

 

Coexist was "safe," I See You is actually expanding their sound

 

Yeah I definitely disagree with it being safe, since it's kind of a huge leap in a more vibrant direction. But seeing it performed live makes the energy of that album even more apparent.

 

Fair! It's been a while and I remember the whole thing sounding nice but I for whatever could not get excited about it at the time.

 

I fucking love this record so much.
