Yeah I really like it, I mean it's good and all but I think it will be even better in the context of the album. This record is def shaping up to be AOTY worthy for me.

AGO is amazing. I'm happy that this worked out the way it did. Hoping for them to be in Atlanta for The Stuffing show.

obviously opinions differ so if you thought it was a good single that's cool, but this part of your statement right here is super circular reasoning - the band choosing the song doesn't mean it's a good or bad choice, it just means it's the one they chose. by this logic you can't ever criticize anything a band does because "well, they chose it, so it must have been the right choice!"

It reminds me of some silversun pickups song but I can't put my finger on it. Wouldn't sound out of place on their last couple albums.

This is my favorite of the three songs.

You're right, it is completely circular, but that's kind of the point. When it comes to something as inconsequential as what the first single for an album is – and this goes mainly for a band like The Hotelier who aren't really seeking radio play – what they choose is presumably the song that best represents what they want to tell people about the album. And, in that respect, "Piano Player" worked for me because it was different for the band, it was non-traditional in some ways, and it piqued my interest about the record.

That's fair, to me it was just really boring and soured me on the album cycle for quite a while. I ended up being really into the album anyway, but in that respect the single had the opposite of the intended effect for this listener

Also, I enjoy ranking things. This is probably a boring top 10 MO songs, but here it is:

    Wolves at Night
    Where Have You Been
I Can Feel a Hot One
    Mean Everything to Nothing
    Virgin
    Apprehension
    The Ocean
    All I Really Wanted
Never Really Ever Been Another Way Out
    Top Notch

Definitely thought I'd see "Colly Strings" on more of these lists. And no love for "Pale Black Eye"? That's definitely one of my favorites.

Also I have a RAGC! Playlist I've listened to a million times that goes like this:

    Blame
    Memories on a Deck 1
    Memories on a Deck 2
    Oh No I Tried
    Devil Dressed in Blue
    Old Again
    Night Marry You
    Memories From a Shore
    Haunt While I Sleep
    Right Ahead Young Sailor
    Barely Bit Me
    Rotten Black Root
    Down to Your Soul
    What a Pity
    I Am Aware
    When I Met Death
    Love Come Save Me
    I Was a Cage

It's really a quite good list, if I do say so myself.

I've never not liked a MO song. It's really tough to whittle down their catalog to 10 songs.

LOVE The Moth. If you have access to a nice set of speakers or headphones listen to it that way because I feel like that will allow you to really experience MO's new stuff, especially The Moth. I listened on my phone's speakers and then on my white Apple headphones, and it was good but not great. Then I blasted The Moth through my set of m50x's and it blew me away. I can't wait to get my hands on the full album and just go front to back a few times with those headphones.
