It's weird for me because I haven't seen Forks Over Knives or the other docs that are out there. I read Fast Food Nation about 10 years ago, but it just changed the way I thought about the industry. I still ate meat. I am just now starting John Joseph's book Meat Is For Pussies.

I think with this lifestyle it's easy to become overwhelmed. You don't have to drop every habit at once, start dehydrating fruit, juicing smoothies, eating completely organic, and prepping every meal like a lot of people say. Those are things to build towards. It's a progression and you go at your own pace as you gain more knowledge.

I stopped eating meat for a few reasons, one being that I was angsty and was a rebel without a cause and wanted to be different. And a decade later here I am lol. Hunting is a big thing here and it has always creeped me out. I know it's more ethical or whatever than factory farming but I can't get on board with the whole weird culture of it. My mom raises chickens for meat and she always wants me to see them chilling in the coop but it makes me too sad

I couldn't go without chicken, shrimp, salmon, clams, lobster or steak. The rest I'd be okay with.

I'd like to hunt, but I didn't grow up doing it so I'd need someone to teach me, plus I'm pretty sure it'd be expensive to start

You're not a bowhunter are you? I've been wanting to get into archery for a while now

I grew up on farms and my step dad made me pluck feathers from the chickens after he'd kill them, and you dip them in the boiling water. I never ate chicken really after that because of the smell. Me and my wife started after our honeymoon in Mexico. We went to a zoo there and the conditions and mental state of the animals there had us both in tears before we left. Then it's been the factory farming and global impact. There's a lot to learn still but I love it so far.

I don't feel like I'd ever be full if I didn't eat meat. Sometimes I'll make a meal out of sweet potatoes and kale or something, but I couldn't do it for every meal

Plus it would make lunch difficult/expensive

It is expensive after buying a gun, bullets, license, and if you don't have your own land you have to pay to hunt on someone else's land. I tried bow hunting once but I wasn't strong enough. My dad is amazing with a bow. That's mainly what he hunts with bc it's way harder.

I thought the same but once you start cooking more you still get quite full. You do have to learn certain tricks so you're not destroying your bank account though. Some stuff gets expensive but i've started to find ways around it. I also take leftovers for lunch which helps.

Doesn't take much to get me full so that has never been a problem. I also feel like I spend less money on food than my meat eating friends honestly.
