things with the formerly engaged lady friend have gone real good. we spent almost the entire weekend (sat/sun) together at a cabin / campground some family and friends were staying at.

it's weird because she isn't shying away from the fact that she's no longer engaged and is pretty blunt about it and introducing me to folks. almost like, "yes, i called off my wedding. no, it wasn't for some imaginary reason", but i definitely don't feel pressure about the circumstances or that i'm being introduced as an immediate replacement for the former fiancé (in terms of immediately getting engaged / married ourselves)

she's cool, we're cool, officially a thing now which i didn't really expect or think about, but whatevs. works for me. i've found that the less thinking i do about things the better things usually go so i'm living by this train of thought (kind of like George from Seinfeld when he has success doing the opposite of his reactions).

but between you and chase having met or introduced your relatively new partners/relationships/whatever to family makes me all sorts of anxious haha! that is my biggest fear for when I finally decide i want to actually date/have a relationship with someone is meeting their family or having them come with me to my parents or a family event. Maybe i'm just weird tho. most likely im just weird.

I only met some friends / family of hers. Mine are all in Minny and Wisconsin. But, it was very informal and not a big deal. I personally don't mind meeting family - I can usually play it off and get them to somewhat enjoy my presence. But having a girl meet my family has never happened (aside from not living in the same state as them) but because the idea alone terrifies me because they will pull no punches and make it awkward as fuck for me and her simply because they can. They're like a giant frat house of aunts and uncles and cousins who give no shits

random story:

i remember years ago i once drove like 90 minutes to meet a girl and as soon as we said hello was super disappointed and not feeling it and knew she felt the same (she didn't look at all like her pictures and there was just a weird, hostile vibe between us immediately, very bizarre). we walked around her city a bit and had some lunch and i was like, "if this isn't working we don't have to spend all day together. i can find something else to do here for a few hours. no pressure." and she was all, "no, no, no i'm having a good time".

then ironically enough her "sister" "calls" with an "emergency" and she has to leave. i was pissed that she couldn't just admit it but happy as shit that she pulled that card (and as soon as she did). then she had the audacity to say she'd text me the following weekend when she was near my city to make up for having to leave to help her sister but never did. was super glad about that.

people are weird creatures.

 

She might have felt awkward about it too, be sure to text her this evening saying you had a good time and want to do it again! Last time I had a date like that I found out she was interested but shy and we had a great second date
