There are exceptions of course but I can speak for myself and many others that once you get your hands on a PS/Xbox you tend to not go back as much.

As I said before, there are so many factors. One that he mentioned was family. If you have any children under the age of 15, the Nintendo is a great medium for families. I have a 17 month old and you can be sure I will introduce him to the Nintendo in whatever form it is at the time he is able to play before the others.

 

I go through phases in terms of which platform I play more but how grown up I am at a particular moment has nothing to do with lmao. Most "grown up games" are not grown up at all, they are designed for teenagers that like to think they're grown up. Yes, Nintendo makes some kid games, but most of their games are very clearly all ages and a lot of them are harder (or have more depth you can access if you want to, like Pokemon) and have more precise gameplay than other AAA games.

The point is very few major players in this industry contribute to its broadening lately (including Nintendo during the WiiU era), which is bad, because a stagnant industry is mostly a bad thing. Especially Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony have a responsibility and reason to change this, but it seems like only Nintendo is currently trying.

 

I'm so tempted to get the Crash remasters, and reading all your posts has not made it any easier. I just don't think I can justify the spend at the moment...

Strangely, I've never actually completed the first game despite it being the first ever video game i owned. That shit is tough as nails. Y'all better believe I'll be rectifying that.

 

Only reason I haven't bought Crash is cause I'm moving in with new roommates next month and I know one of them will have it.

 

These Crash games are the most fun I've had playing games in a while. I think the problem I have with a lot of platformers these days are they're too easy, I miss difficult platforming, haha.

 

True. Hoping Yooka Laylee is a bit difficult.

Yeah I know it's still 40 bucks at GameStop :/ I was kinda hoping it was gonna be on the mid year sale.

 

There might be a week 2 of sales this week. There were two weeks last year, if I am remembering correctly.

But I think last year, it was labeled "week 1" during the first week, and that's not the case here. So maybe not, maybe so.

 

Bethesda will eventually port Skyrim to everything.

I got after it the last two days and have 100% sans relics the first Crash. Still can't believed I got some of those colored gems.

 

Those relics are easily the hardest part, I am struggling with the two bridge levels, haha. I keep failing right at the end.

 

Playing all this platforming goodness has made me want to play Mario Galaxy 2 again but I really don't want to get my Wii shit out. I would love a Switch release of the Galaxy games at some point.

 

Those of you with Crash, does it handle as well as the original games? Is the pace and the feel still there?

 

It's been a while since I've played the originals but it feels good to me. I think the only issues I've had so far are a few hitboxes feeling off but even that's not too often. I love it.

 

That's reassuring. I guess having the relic time trials means they got to keep things tight.

Also, whoever mentioned a CTR remake, I would be SO into that. I've spent so much of my life on that game. One of the few video games that I think I'm legitimately decent at.

With the reception that the N.Sane trilogy has been getting, do you think Sony starts taking Crash seriously again and we get a revival of good games?

 

Activision owns Crash and except for remasters Activision is only into major AAA franchises these days. There are ways around that for Sony but I would not count on it.

 

I'm having so much fun playing Crash. I forgot just how frustrating it gets at times (in a good way).

 

I would like to see Vicarious Visions try their hand at a new Crash game. I've played Nitro Kart and thought it was a nice addition to the franchise but was clearly no CTR. The remastered trilogy shows, at the very least, their respect for the source material and cool changes like full playability with Coco (although I may be ignorant if that ever happened in a Crash game post Wrath of Cortex)..
