I splurged a bit and bought the Gamestop exclusive version last night. Has some bonus content, including a Bowser player piece. Also bought Boo

 

I say long live the 3DS. The Switch is great, but let's get down to brass tax here folks. It's portable, but it's not nearly as convenient as the 3DS. It's like saying "Hey I bought an IPad, I guess I don't need this IPhone anymore."

 

Eeehhh apples to oranges imo. An iPad wouldn't replace an iPhone because it's two handed vs one handed, isn't feature complete in terms of phone functionality, and a phone is something 95% of folks who have one spend a large part of their days on. I'm putting my Switch in my briefcase when I'm done with my commute just like I would a 3DS, they both require both hands, and the software isn't interchangeable between them the way it would be on iOS.

I don't want to go back and forth between both the two for a moment longer than I must, but I understand why some have the opposite mindset.

 

I guess my comparison is focused on how I would travel with them. 3DS and my phone are in my pocket. Switch and IPad are in there case in my backpack. Let's say I m flying, the Switch/IPad are great once I'm on the plane. The 3DS like my phone would be used in the airport. Like waiting at the gate, while I grabbing a quick bite to eat, in a long slow security line etc.

 

I never even realized the design of the US/NTSC SNES was different to the Europe/PAL console, heh. Managed to pre-order a SNES Classic through my local video game retailer, hoping it doesn't get cancelled down the track if supply becomes constrained.

 

I like the PAL/Japanese version of the SNES so much more than the American version. I'm super glad I managed to get a preorder since I never got to own one myself so I haven't finished a single game on the list despite always wanting to. I hope nothing goes wrong with my preorder.

 

I never bring my handhelds anywhere, so to satisfy me a portable has to be playable on the couch or in bed and the Switch is fine in that regard. What I'm going to miss about the DS family are the two screens.

 

This is probably the worst idea but my switch is usually in my car during the work week.

I take it out during the weekend to play on the tv.

 

I live in the desert, I wouldn't leave anything in my car. Unless it's like a pot roast or something I'm trying to cook

 

Yep. I like that the Switch is bigger and more comfortable for me and has a screen that isn't complete garbage but I did like the dual screens of the DS line and it's the one thing I'll miss from them. As long as I can play it laying in bed, I'm happy.

 

I can say the same for here. It's basically around 95-105 every day here so I truly am dumb.

 

That's right I remember you posted about some event in Fresno in the video games thread a few months ago. That's only a couple of degrees cooler on average than where I'm at in Bakersfield.

 

bakersfield is cool purely for the fact that I'm able to watch hockey there.

 

Looking at your profile pic, I was wondering if you're a Dodgers fan. That sounds dangerous living up in Giants territory. I've had a few guys talking shit to me at bars in Fresno for wearing my Dodgers hat.

 

It was terrible during the Giants keep winning championships era but now that they suck, they all went into hiding.

 

I loved having two screens as well. The biggest place they'll be missed is Monster Hunter: the insane customization of moving, resizing, and selecting hot keys for potions and stuff was such a good QoL feature

 

How is ARMS with the Pro Controller? I want to play it but one of my joycons is busted and I haven't replaced it yet.

 

I sold a Sheik and Toon Link Amiibo unopened bundle on eBay for $112.50. Like, wtf?

These people are crazy.

 

I think the highest I'd go on one is $30. That's why I'll never get OoT Link unless they do a massive reprint.

Also that really tempts me to just sell mine but I'm such a hoarder when it comes to collectibles.

 

I feel you for sure. I originally had every single Amiibo released. A switch flipped recently though of.... "why?" They all sat on shelves in a spare room of mine adding zero value to my life. So I started returning them to some stores that I bought them from if they still carried it and they would take them back(I should have never returned SSB Link and Zelda. Had no idea they would be worth so much now after Breath of the Wild.....). And the others I'm putting on eBay to make some extra cash for savings. The only ones I'm not selling are my OoT and Majora's Mask Link. Those games are special, so no way. Also Samus and Zero Suit Samus......

 

The next ARMS update is slated for mid-July and will have Max Brass, his stage, new arms, a new mode and balance tweaks. Nintendo's also going to hold a Japanese ARMS Tournament in the fall.

Miitopia demo is pretty fun, my biggest worry is that it might be too repetitive. But I wasn't expecting to finish the entire demo in one sitting. Probably did it in 3-4 hours of nonstop playing.

I was seeing how easy to hack the NES mini and put any game you want on there. This makes me much more likely to get an SNES mini.
