Damn, that'll be a great deal in the latter half. Always thought he'd go a round sooner too, they got a steal.

Can't wait to see how you react when the Jags finally get it right.

You'll probably spend the whole time saying "yeah, but all good things come to an end."

No, I'll acknowledge it haha. But they have to show some sort of precedent to justify believing it. I am very high on the defense and already said on talent alone it's absolutely top ten. The entire offense is a question mark. The line holding up influences which Bortles we get which in turn tells us which Fournette we get. The receivers gotta be more consistent, someone has to literally remove Westbrook's knee from its proper place, and I don't care how it happens but someone has to let Caldwell know that there's 11 guys on offense, not 10. It is the year of the lord 2017, Marcedes Lewis is not an NFL Tight End. He is a Fox Sports Commentator that we somehow keep letting suit up.

Marcedes Lewis is the most disappointing player. Blocks just well enough on a team with a bad OL that we need him, he is in great shape and still quite fast for his age and size and has always had the "potential" to be really hard to stop (just because of wingspan, vertical leap, and not being slow). But he seems to play every game at half effort and never performs up to the sum of his parts.

He had one season and one season only where he looked like a round 1 pick. Had 10 TDs that year. Since then he's just been a blocker you throw screens to, and goal line fades when you actually just want to not score a TD. He did randomly have like 3 40 yard gains on screens last year, otherwise I'd have no idea he even still had juice in his legs.

I agree that the entire offense is a question mark. But run blocking isnt like a yes/no, black/white. It's more like a scale of 1 to 10. How long are the blocks sustained and how smart are the linemen at the second level? A super talented runner can still break big runs out of 6 or 7-level blocking if he's that talented and that decisive with his vision.

It's not like, every single running play that isn't executed perfectly is a 0, and no RB Is gonna have success no matter how quick he reads the action. There are varying degrees of how quickly RBs can adapt to OL mistakes.

You can give Chris Ivory and Fournette both, say, a 4 on that scale. So maybe only 3/5 blockers did their jobs right, holes closed quickly, one or two linebackers at the second level didn't get properly addressed. I'd legit flip a coin that Fournette still gets 3-5 yards. Whereas it's a miracle if Ivory gets out of the backfield.

I know it sounds highly rhetorical but I'm just trying to put it in perspective -- that extra burst and decisiveness can go a long way when it comes to finding that gap before it closes. He can make up for our OL being bad in some ways here and there... not always, but there will be a difference in how many yards Fournette gets out of bad situations.

Doug Marrone better tell Nate Hackett to chill with all of the shotgun run game with Fournette on that team now.

I agree. But you gotta have strong blockers to run out of I or Singleback. We were soft as fuck last year. I think we are done playing around with zone blockers, have learned that we are not good at coaching finesse.

That's one of the main reasons I love Coughlin since he's come back... the main change in our personnel decisions is him saying, "fuck all this pretentious bullshit trying to gameplan around our weaknesses instead of addressing them. Lets win football games the hard way."

I really do think that unless you have Andy Reid/Pete Carroll level intelligence on your coaching staff... you can't get away from the brute/physical aspect of football controlling the tempo and morale of most games.

You need good blocking no matter what formation you're in.

Whether it's a variation of the I with a lead blocker or just a single deep back set, it's just easier for the back to choose the correct hole...especially in a zone blocking scheme. I don't know what they're going to do in Jacksonville, but you have a generational power back talent that is proven in the I. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I'm cool with the zone scheme. I learned to love it because you can play a smoke and mirrors game with RPOs...but in the NFL, I don't like it for gun teams because every defense is so fast and smart. Chip Kelly is a prime example of why shotgun zone is not valuable in the NFL.

I meant strong blockers as in blockers with above average strength for the NFL haha

I don't have a problem with well executed zone blocking. But it's so complex and requires way more chemistry, the line all has to be on the same page. We have not shown that we can develop that kind of open field perception in the blockers we've drafted. I bet Joeckel's failure to develop isnt all his fault and he could've had a better start on another team.

Your running game becomes a clown car in a destruction derby if your team cant coach those concepts with a lot of attention to detail. I feel like there's a lot more you can fuck up as a player, or not communicate well enough as a coach, in a zone scheme. Sometimes power blocking, mentally is as simple as just, can you take this guy and move him wherever the fuck we need you to move him? That's what kind of blocker Cam Robinson and Earl Watford are. We are getting away from drafting underpowered linemen who have to outthink their opponent rather than manhandle them.

Browns, Bills, Rams and Bucs fans sitting here not worrying about Jacksonville complaints.

For Browns fans, the last time we saw the playoffs it was January 5, 2002, they lost to the Steelers and the #1 song in America was Nickelback's "How You Remind Me." So DON'T even try to tell me that was even a worthwhile time.

Dude was oddly impressive last night. For his first match ever, he really killed it.

Except when he almost killed himself.

Yeah it was a solid debut. I'd like if he kept training and focused on it, he could be good
