    I do not exist.

I've noticed people talking about how there's no magic money tree to pay nurses and teachers but of course there's a magic money tree for Ireland in order for the DUP to prop up the Tory government...

Just out of interest, how do people envisage Jeremy Corbyn becoming PM within 6 months? At the moment the Tories seem to be tolerating May because they know they're in a weak position and couldn't handle another election.

How long will a party hang on with this kind of minority government deal? What kind of developments would need to happen to see Corbyn become PM that quickly? We're talking by Christmas. What kind of situation would cause Conservative backbenchers to rebel enough to bring down this May government and cause them to possibly lose control of Brexit and the government if an election was called?

I know pretty much everyone hates May in her own party right now, but as they'd possibly be causing the end of their jobs (if they were to lose their seat) and Tory power in the UK at a crucial time, it seems like a suicidal move. A move that doesn't seem plausible for many Conservatives who come across as cynical, self-interested, power hungry MPs.

Call me pessimistic but I can see them hanging in there for as long as possible... until March 2019 perhaps...?

I know a lot of rumours were coming from the Conservative background post-election saying she "wouldn't last the week" and "there'll be a new leader and an election by October". But as the dust settles, is that still a reality? It seems like there were a lot of people baying for her blood in the aftermath but as they realised the implication of this, no one has actually stepped forward?

Anyone got any better insights than my scattered thoughts?

I feel like we're in unchartered territory - the only minority governments I'm familiar with from the textbook are the two Labour ones in the 70s and then John Major in 1996-1997. (Obviously we had the Con/LibDem coalition too but that was pretty stable in comparison.) Can we learn anything from these? Major hung on after he lost his majority until the 1997 election. I suppose the Callaghan government might be the most similar example with the collapse after the breakdown of the Lib-Lab pact - but that still hung on from 1977 until 1979. Is this DUP pact more stable after the £1bn promise?

I'm not an expert at all but looking forward to hearing other people's thoughts.

However long this government lasts I expect that Corbyn will remain in a stronger position whenever the next election occurs.

The people saying this government will be done within 6 months are mostly coming from this perspective (I think):

I'm not so sure though. I was listening to Novara Media's latest podcast earlier and they were talking about the challenges that both the Tories and Labour face in the months/years ahead. It's worth a listen:

Thanks - that's useful information. Will listen to that podcast later.
