Can't remember but still, not a good look.

The highlight of the match was Mexicos manager calling New Zealand's manager a motherfucker.

Mexico are a thoroughly unlikable team.

I thought he admitted it to the chief exec and that's why she resigned

That sounds about right. I can't remember what it was he was meant to have told her. He essentially got done for two things, admitting guilt to one and trying to fight the more serious charge.

    Mustafi has been AWFUL

Like the last 6 months of our season then.

Good result for us. If Mustafi hadn't fucked up we might have actually won this game.

Lucas Lima is joining Barcelona in January (?) from Santos.

Seems like a strange transfer. Good player but nowhere near the quality they need, or the positions they need to reinforce. Verratti is an unbelievable signing if that goes through though.

Lucas Lima is Andre Gomes' replacement. Like for like. Shite for shite.

PSG said they're not letting Verratti go this summer, especially to Barca, I thought.

This might have already been discussed but I'm curious:

For Americans on here, or those who support or have a second team in a different country to themselves, what drew you to that team?

I technically fall in that category. My grandad and father both supported United. Saw Beckham score from past the halfway like and never looked back.

Udinese: I studied abroad in Italy about thirty minutes from Udine. Went to a game and fell in love. Di Natale

Barcelona: On said study abroad trip, I went to Barcelona on Spring Break and got to watch a Barcelona derby on Las Ramblas in a bar full of local fans and never turned back.

Until that point (2011), I watched soccer for a few years but hadn't committed to any team.

After that, it became absurdly easy to watch the EPL. I am drawn to Arsenal and United and rarely root against them, but I fell in love with Swansea their first game after promotion.

I enjoy Celtic after being adopted by a pair of Celtic fans when I went to the Barca-Celtic UCL game (not THAT one) in 2012. They were awesome.

    Blackburn. Because I hate myself.

Brad Friedel played for them and the 2002 WC was a life changer for 9 year old me. Followed them into the abyss.

But like, I've pretty much abandoned that fandom. Near impossible to watch matches in America, and Venky's is literal cancer

Started following the sport because I was bored summer of '04 and watched the Euros that year. Zlatan backheel against Italy hooked me. The soccer channel at that time showed a lot of condensed highlights from classic games, and United was the really quick draw.

Don't think I've ever seen more pitiful defending than what we just displayed on that goal.

Max Urruti's hair right now is an atrocity and I genuinely believe Dallas should lose their franchise for fielding such a haircut

Celtic's politics and them essentially being a beautiful celebration of the diaspora and surviving oppression is what drew me to them

Interesting. Obviously I'm an Arsenal fan via my dad's side of the family being Londoners, and living roughly an hour north of London.

I started following Atletico when I lived in Barcelona for 6 months in 2007 when I was 13. I lived near Camp Nou and loved players like Ronaldinho, but I saw an Atletico match in a bar and was loved Torres instantly. He left shortly after but my love for them remained and seeing them grow into such a huge force has been fantastic. Their last CL final was one of the most heart breaking matches I've ever seen.

As for Hertha, my like for them is a little more abstract. My dad was born in West Berlin due to my grandfather being in the army. Due to this I've always been intrigued by the city. Alongside this I randomly chose them as my first game of Football Manager in 2006 (They fired me as I finished 10th and they wanted 8th - harsh). I forgot about them until a few years ago when I saw a match on TV. I've yet to see a game at the Olymiastadion, but that should change as I have plans to go visit Berlin later this year in September/October.

I am on the other side of the fence, supporting Rangers. Father supported them and we had a season ticket for ten years back in the day.

As a btw, I am hoping we can atleast give some challenge to Celtic this year. I hold my hands up, incredible year for celtic and well deserved. For us, a comfortable second place and not too far behind celtic is probably a realistic good finish. I think we have made some good signings defensively, but our best striker (worryingly) still is Kenny Miller. We have this new young guy just in, fingers crossed he isnt a Sebo. Still dont think we are at the standard of Dembele and Griffiths yet.
