Sony has sold over 60 million PS4, about as much as the 360 and PS3 combined. Yeah, that's stroke inducing, folks.

 

Had the most hype game of Rocket League ever. 2-0 down. I had 4 saves including a brilliant bicycle save. 22 seconds left and we make it 2-1. 10 seconds left 2-2. And with 1 second on the clock we make it 3-2. End the game with 3 assists and 4 saves. Fuuuuck I love this game.

 

I really need to play that more, one of the most purely fun games this generation.

 

Huh? 60m is world wide. 360/PS3 sold 160m world wide.

Your numbers are off but I see your point. You forget that Sony is bigger than the PS department though. It's a mess of a company and has been for years. The PS is actually the only thing that's really going well for them so that partly explains their market capitalization compared to Nintendo's. This isn't actually the first time Nintedo has been worth more than Sony so this is old news anyway.

 

I have a coworker that used to work for SONY and she has mentioned numerous times how her job was always in jeopardy because they were laying off people left and right because they were constantly losing money. As someone else mentioned, 99% of their prime real estate is in PS.

 

Sony's financial arms make the majority of their money. They actually somehow turned a profit on smartphones out of nowhere too. You are right about the rest of their services though.

It's easier for a company focused on one thing to raise its market cap like Nintendo compared to large conglomerates like Sony who have their hands in a million different things. They're more attractive to investors, also people seem to be getting market cap confused with revenue and profits (not in this thread) which is funny to see.

Nintendo's biggest profit last fiscal year came from selling off their remaining portion of the Seattle Mariners funnily enough.

The whole Seattle Mariners x Nintendo thing is a cool story by the way. I was kind of sad to see it end, haha.

 

Yeah it was so bizarre. Shame they ended up selling it. But $660m. Can't complain with that, really.
