Good looking out, with no shipping if you do in store pickup this was a no brainer.

Loving Lift and MOW as expected, but the production and overall sonic differences between them are jarring. MOW was likely recorded recently (AMSP sessions?), and then Lift has this extremely intimate, stripped-down, almost claustrophobic feel, in addition to Thom's vocals probably being from much earlier.

yeah MOW sounds incredible. I could totally see it being recorded recently.

I think pieces of it were, but not the whole thing. The guitars don't sound like current-era Radiohead. The strings definitely were added recently though, according to the credits on the back of the album (there's an image of that going around).

Either way, I can't believe how good it came out. Crazy that it actually lived up to expectations after years and years.

  6. Good to see some love for I Promise! Of course, there's so much excitement about finally hearing Lift and Man of War (both are spectacular), and I Promise seems to be forgotten by some fans. It's so simple but it's so gorgeous. I love how Thom's vocals soar ("even when the ship is wrecked" and "even when you lock me out") and it's a fun song to sing.

Listening to Disc 2 right now. Can't believe how great this band is, and they've been my favourite band for a few years. Haha

It sounds fine. But this is just on another level. Cannot wait for that box set to come in.

Their Glastonbury performance today was unreal. Streamed it at work and stayed late to finish watching it.

That Glastonbury set sure brought out the hits and paid special attention to OKC. Would have loved to experience that in person, but the stream was second best.

    Edit: ^^^ what they said.

Most of it. This skips the first two songs for some reason.

Gave AMSP a complete, in-depth listen again last night, and it's just magnificent. Right up there near the best work of their career. It's hard to quantify how impressive that is for a band that made their "opus" 20 years ago.

One unpopular opinion, though... I would've preferred leaving off TLW from AMSP and then getting a 90s-ish studio version with OKNOK instead

I definitely prefer the version of True Love Waits on AMSP than anything I'vr heard from it live during their earlier days. The recorded version is so eerie and heartbreaking to listen to thabks to the arrangements and minimalism to it.
