  1. I guess saying I'd argue the opposite was a stretch. He is doing his job.

But "he has a good agent" is not what comes to mind in this situation.

Stephen A. Smith says Norman wanted to stay at Carolina and that his agent may have messed up, from what he's hearing.

Stephen A. Smith also said Carolina should call Josh Norman & speak to him in person without the agent involved. Says Norman is mad at agent

I never fully trust Screamin' A Smith but this goes along with the reports yesterday that Norman was visibly upset and disappointed about being released. It sounds like the agent played his hand too strong and it resulted in Josh moving to a different team.

  8. It will definitely be over 12.5m per season. That's close to what we offered him.

Kinda scary to give a guy who has had one (albeit dominant) season a gigantic long term deal when he turns 29 during the season.

    Maxwell got $25 million guaranteed

    J. Jenkins got $28.8 million guaranteed

    Sherman got $40 million guaranteed

so Norman is probably looking at something like 5 years, ~$70 million with ~$35 million guaranteed? idk

I'd wager its basically going to be something like a 3 year, $45 million dollar deal with a bunch of funny money in years 4/5

Probably, assuming its a good gm making the deal.

the earth is not a cold dead place.

The history of cornerbacks signing big long term deals with other teams has been relatively treacherous. So good luck.

It's the most important position on the team though. If the Browns thought either QB would be game-changers, I think there's no chance they do a move like this though right? No doubt, the team is terrible, and needs picks more than just a QB...it makes complete sense, but I still stand by the idea that if they thought either QB was worth a damn they wouldn't do this.

Or they think these QBs are on the same level as someone else they might eye later on.

I would call it being a product of a system, which Norman could very well be. Once you leave that system, there's a lot of uncertainty.

I just think that they want to build a foundation for a QB to grow under, rather than just throwing one out there with what they have. I'm fine with it though. With it seeming like the Rams are going Goff, I think you take that package of picks over Wentz every time. Too many question marks to turn down that value when you have so many holes on your team. Hue came out and seemed genuinely excited by the trade today, so I'm pretty at peace with them opting for the picks.

Well these teams know what system "x" player excels in which is why you shouldn't sign players who haven't proven they can play in a certain scheme to big money.

When the Eagles signed Nnamdi, it was Nnamdi and Revis as CB 1 and 1a. Nnamdi excelled at being a man press cover guy in Oakland. Then he comes to Philly and for whatever stupid reason, they play him 5-7 yards off in a soft zone and he was roasted over and over again.

That Nnamdi debacle was one of the biggest FA blunders ever.
