One of the best Tom Delonge harmonic guitar riffs in that bridge. Used to get so pumped up by that song back in high school before my soccer games. haha.

I feel like a lot of these descriptions don't really know what they're talking about.

 

some of them sound like the people who claimed to have seen Star Wars early, yet couldn't validate with any details, just incredibly vague things like "the soundtrack was sick!" or "there were a lot of sad moments, and some funny, definitely felt very Star Warsy"

 

I'm sure they know they just can't give us specifics. Gotta wait and see for ourselves.

 

I asked my guy today if BTD was primarily a Matt or Mark song, or split. His response:

"Both there, more Mark"

So that lines up with what I'm sure most of us expected for a first single.

Based on my experiences with recommendations or comparisons I basically don't listen to any of them so it's whatever lol.

 

Good. That makes the most sense for the first single.

 

Putting all the animosity between them now aside, it looks like they were legitimately super close back then and they really did have an amazing 6-7 years together. Every piece of old footage of them looks like the most fun in the world. Makes it even more shitty that it went down the pan the way it did.

 

There are some videos on YouTube where the guys are talking about Dogs Eating Dogs and how everything finally felt natural again being in the studio together. Tom and Mark were both saying things like "we finally feel like we're ready to take over the world again, this is the start of a new chapter of our band and we haven't felt this excited about our music in a long time" (I'm paraphrasing) so it's really a bummer to see how quickly everything fizzled out after that EP.
