The weird phenomenon that happened is I loved and defended FFXV until playing NieR: Automata and realizing everything I liked about FFXV was 100x better in NieR

 

I don't think me thinking TLOU is just okay has anything to do with my enjoyment of XV

 

Both indicate poor taste. #friendlybanter

I'm going through the KH collections right now, but Nier is next to pick up on my list.

 

I still need to buy that.

But I want to platinum KH 2 and that's not gonna happen

 

Hollow Knight is pretty good so far, but i've got a bad feeling about backtracking and grinding as it's already reared those heads

 

Yeah, the platinum is brutal haha. I may end up trying for it though

 

Not sure if this has been posted but I'm super excited for this.

 

So excited for .hack, glad to see it's coming to the US this year

 

I thought the story was awful and honestly barely even there for most of the game, it was clear the beginning section (the part that was shown in the XV reveal trailer that looked more interesting than anything in the final game) was removed and turned into that horrible movie. The combat was fun for maybe an hour or so and then it was just horribly boring for the rest of the game, I never felt incredibly engaged for any of the fights and it just got worse as it went on. Every side quest I did was just go fight this monster or go collect this thing which were both very boring especially since the combat wasn't fun and the map was pointlessly big and mostly uninteresting. Admittedly I didn't do all that many of them because after a while I found them so boring I just ignored them. I didn't really like any of the party members (or characters in general honestly aside from maybe two) very much or feel like I got much of a reason to, we got very little backstory or info on them and I struggle to remember any real memorable moments for any of the characters. Compared to how much I ended up loving the cast of previous Final Fantasy games it's even more disappointing. Also the dungeons/caves were fucking awful slogs with nothing interesting happening at all.

Honestly there wasn't much for me to like aside from it being very pretty and riding around on Chocobo's. One of the most disappointing games I've ever played.

 

As someone who enjoyed my time with XV, I can understand any and all criticism. The monsters, combat/gameplay/mechanics, and graphics were all top tier. The story and characters should rightfully be torn to shreds.

 

Also yeah Nier is incredible and everyone should play it. Still my favourite game of the year.

 

Yeah the story is pretty loose lol but I enjoy it.

Yeah that's kinda how I feel too, like as someone who enjoyed it I also understand why and understand that there's bias in my opinion and that the presentation was not very well done.

I'm absolutely loving Persona but I don't think it'll come close to how I felt about NieR as far as personal attachment to a game. God, I went into it completely blind and it blew me away.

 

+1 for Nier for best game of the year/one of my favorites I've ever played

 

Also I feel the need to tell you that as I've played Persona and did an all-out attack with Panther I thought "I should make this my Chorus avatar" and found the image to do so, but then saw that it was your avatar so I feel the need to compliment it.

 

Also team Nier. Favorite game of the year, although I haven't played many new games this year.

 

My GOTY so far is RE7.

 

Persona 5 is mine so far.

 

Feel like my GOTY will immediately be Zelda when I get a Switch tho

 

I don't think I've even played a game from this year
