I thought this was understood. Republicans aren't against taxes and big government. They're against a particular arrangement of government and who gets burdened with taxes.

I guess I'm thinking more along the lines of political writers. I can recall having this debate when Bush was in office, because the side effect of his tax cuts were a significant increases in property taxes and the like.
