    I've never read Pitchfork. Haha

Anyway this album is great, as expected

Also, I've read at least four reviews that made the "Chaos and Clothes"/Elliott Smith comparison. Dig a little deeper people!

I only visit there because they review a lot of things, so I essentially ignore the grades and reviews just to find out about releases that I might not have heard of otherwise.

That review is getting torn apart on Facebook.

    .

Even when I vehemently disagreed with what they had to say, there was a time when Pitchfork reviews were at least entertaining reads. So many of the ones I've read in recent years just come off like rote college essays written by people struggling to meet deadlines. There's no passion, no clever insight--hell, even a little of that trademark holier-than-thou snark would be welcome.

They're just kinda boring, these days.

    The rivalry is back on

I think their coverage of some genres (indie rock, some rap and electronic) is good and they do a pretty good job of trying to promote diversity in the average person's listening with a lot of the stuff that's reviewed favorably.

There's just some genres, like country and indie pop, where they don't have anyone even ok on staff to cover them but they try anyways and laughably miss the mark.

Agreed. There doesn't seem to be any passion, either for the music or the job.

  11. All their best writers of years gone by mostly write for other outlets now so that's a big part of it I'd say

  12. The Gregg Allman tribute gauntlet has been thrown...and good fucking luck besting this, wow:

  13. Also this is fantastic for a cell phone video:

Very interesting/awesome to see Jason playing the electric and Sadler the acoustic for once!

  15. Wish we could get a token song or two off of his first two records like we do from Here We Rest. Hell even just "Dress Blues" at most shows would probably satisfy me. But hey I'm not really complaining I wouldn't go home unhappy if that's the set he plays in Cincinnati in two weeks.

Was just reading another review of this album and stopped immediately when I read "it’s very nearly a Macklemore song" in reference to White Mans World.

I love that he mentions Paramore as being part of the new Nashville sound in that interview.

Last Of My Kind feels like a new classic country song.

Craig I'm glad you talked about this record so much, had never listened to him before but checked this out based on your hype. I am not disappointed.
