Really liking the new stuff from Lee Bains III and the Glory Fires so far. Especially the new tune Whitewash, it's very Drive-By Truckersish.

"News from Colorado" on this new Steve Earle is incredible.

  3. Anyone here heard of an artist named Jessie Jo Stark? Idk if this really "country" or not, but I feel like most people (looking at you, @Craig Manning) would enjoy her material, what little of it there is anyway.I just discovered her the other day and am becoming obsessed with her voice haha.

there isn't a proper word for the setting sun.

Had I heard Courtney Marie Andrews' Honest Life last year it would have easily been in my top five. What an album.

That one would have probably been higher for me also if I had spent more time with it last year. It's a great album.

New Slaid Cleaves out June 23rd. Somehow I had completely missed this. What a nice surprise, Slaid is one of the best songwriters out there.

    Yep.

Also yep. When you make records in like two or three weeks, I guess you can fit a lot of records into your schedule.

Someone recommended the Vandoliers here, probably @Craig Manning. I just wanted to say thanks for that. As someone that lives far away from home, "The Native" gives me all the feels, as the kids say. It's one of those songs that makes me remember why I love country.

Didn't love this record front-to-back, but "Corners" is incredible.

Managed to get my hands on the new Tyler Childers record. Definitely going to be one of the best country records of the year. Some absolutely wonderful songs on here.

Went and saw James Mcmurtry this weekend for the first time and he did not disappoint. When the band tore into Choctaw Bingo it was like a giant dance party full of 60 year olds, it was awesome.

Anyways, I've been revisiting Just Us Kids recently and I'm starting to think that Mcmurtry might be my favorite active songwriter. I just hope he doesn't wait another seven years between albums this time.

Is it weird that I slightly prefer Ray Wylie Hubbard's version of Choctaw Bingo? Speaking of, he's got a new album on the way. Can't wait.

Hubbard is one of those guys that I've always felt like I should like but it's just never clicked with me outside of a couple songs. I did love that song Stone Blind Horses from a couple of years ago but I feel like the rest of the album didn't do too much for me. Which one of his albums would you recommend?

Rolling stone did a list of the 100 greatest country artists of all time. Some big omissions I noticed were Joe Ely, Jim Lauderdale, Lee Hazlewood, Rodney Crowell, Robert Ear Keen, Iris Dement, and Gillian Welch. Can't believe Toby Keith would be on any list like this.

  25. Thanks for these comments y'all. Now I don't even have to waste time looking at the list because it's obviously fucking bullshit. I'm biased but I say Lucinda has got to be top 10.
