On that interview with Matt....I'm really REALLY big fan of Alkaline Trio but i just can't imagine sound of new record now when he's got this success and actually seems so to be at happy place.dont get me wrong Iam glad he is,he definitely deserved that and even more beacuse he's such amazing person...but at the same time the best Trio albums for me are those where he was totally fucked up and brokenhearted ... He even said that all songs he wrote on MSIS are for his ex-girlfriend and I even think that girl on motorcycle on the cover of the album is actually picture of her?..that record is just so special

 

look, i like matt skiba a lot, i thought california was a decent enough record, but skiba citing blood meridian as lyrical influence in that interview and saying they nailed that vibe is fucking hilarious

Umm wow just read the Skiba interview, yeah it certainly looks like Alkaline Trio is done for now.

 

Didn't Derek just say Alkaline Trio stuff is in the works or was that fake news too?

 

He probably thought he was working on Alkaline Trio
