Just watch the replay. He tried to play the ball but it was a kinda reckless tackle because he went in with the studs up, therefor the red was ok.
Have you seen Kloppos reaction? He would have flipped out if it would have been such a bad tackle like you think it was. It was mostly bad luck/bad timing. Hope it is not as serious as it looked.

klopp was 60 yards away on the other side of the field. i didnt even realize it was a red until the replay, most people probably didn't.

you still haven't rationalized funes mori's reaction. your response to potentially shattering somebody's ankle, if it was by accident, would not be to go kick the ball, then tug your shirt on your way off to get some cred with your fans.

Which proves my point that it wasnt intentional and the severity was only visible after seeing multiple replays.

I was talking about the foul, not about the reaction when he left the field. Because that is why he got sent off and that is why he will be banned. But you want him to miss the rest of the season because he tugged his shirt and pointed at the Everton crest when he left the field?

He could've shattered the ankle of his club's biggest rival's star young player who just so happened to have been on a major hot streak and had already scored in what was becoming a demoralizing game - whatever your view of the foul itself, I think it would be a bigger stretch to read that play out of context than to consider it. Not exactly unreasonable to infer intent.

this has got to be the dumbest fucking logic i've ever heard. i couldn't tell the severity of gerrard's sending off against united last year until i saw the replay too, didn't mean it wasn't egregious or intentional once i got a clearer view.

you're arguing intent. the reaction gives insight into intent.

this is all ignoring how poor your read on the play was anyway. everything happens right in front of funes mori. it wasn't a case of there being a bunch of moving parts and just being clumsy, he's literally standing still on a play right in front of him. you're not going to have more balance than you have right there.

Love Carroll's goal, good to see West Ham winning again. And yeah, Mori's challenge was disgusting, easily a red. Hopefully Origi can recover quickly as bad as it looks.

I didn't even like the reaction and I won't defend it but to infer from that reaction that he tackled Origi with the intend to injure him is just ridiculous. Just watch the replay and you will see that Funes Mori sees a chance to clear the ball and goes for it and then Origi is just a little faster and puts his foot between the ball.
The reaction afterwards has nothing to do with the foul itself and shouldn't decide the length of the ban.

How about we just drop this conversation going nowhere

  10. sheesh, 4-0. regardless of the red that's still ridiculous. oh well. at least being a fan of mediocre at best teams keeps me from getting overly involved.

Great to see two ex-Ipswich legends score some cracking goals this week. First Cresswell at the weekend then Delaney tonight.

Sorry to bring Rovell into this thread, but:

A Leicester City fan, who made a $29 bet at the start of season for team to win EPL, has taken William Hill's 61% cash out offer of $88,578

I'm up at school in College Station, luckily. (Not that it's been dry here).....Shit's been wild, but my area of Houston seems to be making out fine.

It's ridiculous because the same thing was happening this time last year. :-|

Good to know! Not sure how I've missed that you've been at A&M all these years.

Feel like Ozil should definitely be in there over Alli as he's the leading assist player in the league, but other than that, hard to argue with this.

Think Smalling should maybe be in there, not to take away from Toby or Morgan of course.

I think it's crazy that Aguero has never made the TOTY. He's been one of the best strikers in the league, and certainly the most consistent for the last five years, but never made the cut.

Atmosphere was odd tonight but the result was what we needed: a routine win. Alexis looked great, but it seems Giroud is on the way out of the club, as is Walcott. Unlike Walcott, I'll be sad to see him go though.

Arsenal and Tottenham both appear to have an "easier" schedule than Leicester. Could get very interesting over the next 4 weeks.
