Thornton is more of a lock then Marleau at this point to get re-signed.

 

I'm not even a Sharks fan but it will be super weird to see Marleau not in a Sharks uniform, that motherfucker has been there since I was 6 haha. Dude was playing against Gretzky and Bourque still. Gotta be one of the longest tenures in sports yeah?

 

I think he is currently at like 19 years with the Sharks.

The Sharks fanbase wants him back as a depth player but unfortunately he would require more than depth player money.

the Rangers ALWAYS seem to find a way to get out of these horrendous contracts. It irks me to no end.

 

I could see Galchenyuk for Anisimov since the latter's NMC doesn't kick in till next year I believe. Of course, if him and Kruger were to leave (latter a done deal) we'd have two actual centers in Toews and Schmaltz.

Eh, they have over $3.5 mil in dead cap space on the book for two seasons after next year. Better than having him on the roster, but still not an insignificant cap penalty. I'll be more impressed if they can dump Staal. I think they're stuck with that, though.
