Yeah I remember when that happened! She handled it incredibly though. My wife left a comment and she replied to my wife and stuff. After that whole thing happened I just kept thinking how mad Jesse had to be and completely understood why he keeps his personal life so quiet.

 

For sure it's totally understandable.

 

Her post on the matter was genius. Kill the haters with kindness. Made me like her even more.

As for Jesse's IG account being private. Really a no brainer. In many ways BN's fanbase has a cult-like mentality/devout following so i'm sure he would get creeped out by it. I would too.

 

Yeah I know what you mean. She totally came out looking like the bigger person. She really seems so cool. She also seems super talented at her craft.

I would totally get creeped out having a fan base like Brand News

 

But I like to think that most of us here fall in the "sane" category most of the time lol we all have our moments of weakness from time to time tho myself included haha.

Agreed. At least those of us who post in this thread are. Like when shiz goes down it brings in the "crazy" people. Like last year when the fliers and lyric books went out it. Got a little out of hand but that wasn't any of the regular posters.

What's weird about Brand New is you have the fairly normal, and emphasis on the fairly part, like us in this thread. Then you have the obsessive crazy fans that harass Jesses wife and send blood in the mail to random addresses thinking it's gonna give them the new album. Then there is like a solid "bro" type following they seem to have at concerts. Like I have a few friends from back in high school that are the total "bro" stereotype that are really in to them, and I see these guys at every Brand New show. Haha it's just a super random following these guys have.

Oh hell... Brace for all sorts of nonsense.

 

It was posted yesterday though, and no one over there made a thread about it. So, maybe the shenanigans this week have built up their skepticism to a reasonable level.

 

The amount of people commenting things like "I love Brand New and that's why I followed you, but I'm not one THOSE creepy fans!" is really mind-blowing. Following the wife of the singer of your favorite band is creepy, especially if you had never heard of her or her work prior.

 

For someone as quiet and passionate about their personal life, I wonder if Jesse explained to ex-girlfriends / his (now) wife what sort of madness they would be involved and tied up in if the news of them being with Jesse would get out.

It's one thing to date, say, someone from a band who is in magazines and does interviews and such a lot, you know that you'll likely be hounded for comments, pictures, all sorts of shit. But when you're with someone who loathes that lifestyle / being the center of attention for media and such - and has crazy, crazy fans who foam at the mouth for any and all info regarding the band, that's gotta be a different beast entirely.

Glad they're able to find happiness together. I imagine a lot of relationships fall apart because of things like this.

Agreed. My wife had been following her cause of her style and tailoring work. She thought she was cool, then realized later on that she was married to Jesse.

 

Now that Thrice have beat BN to the punch, I'm now going to predict that Thursday will beat Brand New in making a new album.

Random question: how often do you guys listen to Brand New? and what album do you listen to the most?

 

Probably once-ish a week, and almost always The Devil And God.

 

I don't actually listen very often. Maybe once a month. TDAG gets the most play but Deja is probably a close 2nd

 

Lately, the Leaked Demos, Mene and Daisy have been what I've listened to the most. It's one of the rare periods of time where TDAG isn't the most played. I'm also going through a phase where I'm not listening to them a lot. That'll all change come June.

 

I don't actually listen that frequently but it's always Devil and God or Daisy.

 

2009 = The Daisy boom.
2014 = I listened to The Bell House show and other bootlegs religiously.

I started listening to Brand New in 2001 and only got Last.fm in 2005, so this is missing a lot of Your Favorite Weapon and Deja Entendu. At the moment I'm not listening to very much Brand New.

 

I visit Devil and Daisy often. Occasionally Deja. Never YFW.

 

Devil and God by a long shot, and most of my listens have been via CD in my car, too, though that adds in a few more Daisy listens, especially recently.

 

Out of Range is by far my most played Brand New song.

 

I mostly listen to TDAG and YFW but I listen to all regularly

 

Every few months, I'll listen to the entire discography, from Shower Scene to Mene, but lately I've been really into Jesse Lacey Live at the Downtown.
