it was in washington park. the nazis were basically confined by metal barriers near the washington statue and then the counter-protestors were behind police tape 50ft away from them with the police in between.

Unfortunately most of the places that are reachable from the festival grounds easily are chains. I've heard decent things about Pie Five Pizza Co which is near the festival grounds but that's also a small nationwide chain so who knows haha. There will be Grotto's at Firefly if you wanna give them a try, I just never got all the hype about them. My fellow Delawarians will get really defensive about them sometimes though haha.

I've not been to Dover very often for anything other than Firefly, because there's mostly a whole lotta nothin to do between the canal and the beach towns, so there may be a pizza place somewhere in town that's good that I've just never had. But you'd most likely have to uber or take a cab to get to any of them.

Bummed I'm missing my first Firefly this year, have fun!

Mostly just trying to archive them for myself and my own uses. Get tired of seeing right wingers target left wing protestors while ignoring their shitty 4chan bretheran.

To be clear I don't want things with inflammatory stuff in them like racist posters or whatever, I just want the ridiculous ones like the kid in the "Roman" armor saying he's afraid of Antifa using knives lol

  18. Direct democracy has always been mehhhhhhhhh to bad tbh.

  19. the UK doesn't even have direct democracy, really a totally different discussion. if bourgeois democracy is too much for you then you're just a reactionary plain and simple.

  20. Don't think all those articles about the U.K., so it would be a different convo.

After the election here in US, I assumed people would be more suspicious of the mechanisms by which elites abrogated democracy.

  24. Democracy for an insignificant minority, democracy for the rich – that is the democracy of capitalist society. If we look more closely into the machinery of capitalist democracy, we see everywhere, in the "petty" – supposedly petty – details of the suffrage (residential qualifications, exclusion of women, etc.), in the technique of the representative institutions, in the actual obstacles to the right of assembly (public buildings are not for "paupers"!), in the purely capitalist organization of the daily press, etc., etc., – we see restriction after restriction upon democracy.

Always thought that summed up my feelings well. I think direct democracy would lead to horrible things in America. Too many bigots.

He then goes on to argue for: "the organization of the vanguard of the oppressed as the ruling class for the purpose of suppressing the oppressors, cannot result merely in an expansion of democracy. Simultaneously with an immense expansion of democracy, which for the first time becomes democracy for the poor, democracy for the people, and not democracy for the money-bags, the dictatorship of the proletariat imposes a series of restrictions on the freedom of the oppressors, the exploiters, the capitalists. We must suppress them in order to free humanity from wage slavery, their resistance must be crushed by force; it is clear that there is no freedom and no democracy where there is suppression and where there is violence."
