Oh damn, that's a good question about Trout v Harper but I'm in class and about to take a test

It's all fun and games until his utter lack of baseball sense, noodle arm and defensive shortcomings start to cost you games. Haha

I think at this very moment--with Trout slumping and Harper unleashing otherworldly fury upon opposing pitchers--most everyone would prefer Harper on their team.

But stepping back from the first 3 weeks of the season and examining their careers to date, I have a hard time putting Harper over Trout yet. Harper had one elite/MVP season, while Trout's entire career has been elite/MVP-worthy.

Harper can definitely catch up and overtake Trout, but he needs to continue to massacre opposing pitching for at least another year before I'm confident saying he's better than Trout.

I think this conversation will be deadened a bit once Trout breaks out and starts hitting off-speed stuff again. And it wouldn't even be a conversation if Trout was still an elite base stealer, but instead he has had to stay put because of Pujols, though apparently Trout is looking to begin stealing again.

Also, that test I just took was not my favorite.

I wonder if in 5-10 years we'll look at Trout/Harper the way we look at Messi/Ronaldo. Not an absolute perfect match, but a decent enough comparison.

I think Harper has surpassed Trout. Trout has all the home run robbery which is flashy, but they're a lot closer defensively than people can deduce from highlights. And Harper's arm is far superior. Not sure if bulking up has hurt Trout, Harper slimmed down and is in insane shape, used to be like 220 and now he's around 205 I think? And his batting eye is just getting better and better every day. As far as career, yeah Trout has the edge to date. But just based on what we're seeing, I'd take Harper. Not that either is a bad choice really.

Is there any real difference between Baseball Mogul and this or are they just competitors. I had mogul during the Windows 98 era of computers and remember liking it even though I didn't quite understand exactly what I was doing at the time.

It blows my mind that people are still pissy about him leaving. Hell, they've still have yet to get over Pujols leaving almost five years ago.

Hahah. I do very slightly get it, but come on, he was only there for a year. I guess it's just the fact that he went to the Cubs? Look at the roster, and the potential the Cubs have and tell me that wouldn't be a very intriguing place to choose though.

I don't think I'll ever get over it. More because he still acts like he still has a chip on his shoulder for getting drafted in the 13th round. The Cardinals got him for his HoF years but you've got to wonder if he would have aged more graceful staying with St. Louis. I think a lot of his initial struggles with Anaheim were more mental trying to live up to the contract and doing to much.

Also it doesn't help that he basically said after signing that the Cardinals core is over the hill. Get his quote but in terms of baseball politics was a terrible thing to say. I also wonder what his relationship was with the club. He basically said there was no way he would have signed with them which makes me feel like there was some underlying thing going on other than he liked the Cubs roster makeup.

Wasn't aware of that quote, but that's interesting. The Cards are perennially good really, so it would have been a good spot for him for a long time, I would think.

That article you linked me to is a good read, and what I kind of figured. I don't think the fans are being harsh or anything, just a little strange to boo a guy who turned out to be a rental.

I want to say it's due to a couple reasons. One, as you mentioned, he left for the rival team. Two, Cards fans can be at times really weird and possessive about who plays/played for their team. Pujols is the perfect example, dude has gone on to do pretty much nothing to be jealous about in Anaheim but yet, people still act pissy about how he left and go out of their way to take jabs at him.

You know, I've pondered that idea of if he stayed before and I always come to to the notion that the team has been better off without having their resources tied into keeping him here. He was a great player when he was a Cardinal and I loved to watch him play but letting him go was the right decision in hindsight.

I think he also wanted to choose where he played. He had a good interview with the Cardinals beat writer this week essentially saying this is the first time he could make a decision where he played. So I feel like there was some weird mental stuff going on other than the usual most money/ability to win championships mentality FAs of his caliber have.

Ex-Cardinal Heyward is where he wanted to be

  19. No idea what baseball mogul is thb. But this is definitely the best one out there right now

    Anyway

OOTP is way better than Baseball Mogul. Mogul was fun and quick and simple, OOTP is more intricate and can take a bit more investment in its gameplay, but it's worth it.

Well Curt Schilling is a big fan of OOTP so that's a pretty good endorsement.

I'm admittingly a fairly conservative guy but some of these people who have just taken control of the movement or more vocal make me cringe so bad. Like so bad. It makes me wonder if all they are trying to do is stir up shit.
