So the U.K. Doesn't love Obama but France likes him a lot? Kind of interesting

On the contrary, I think a lot of us love Obama. It's just more for his personality than his politics.

Huge success for labour and corbyn. That May's plan backfired so hard should be an embarrassment for the Tories, who probably should consider ousting her. And this all happened within 2 weeks of absolutely horrific terrorist attacks in the uk.

That said, it should be noted that while labour gained almost 10% of the seat shares in parliament, the conservatives gained almost six percent. Dont ask me how that works considering they lost a dozen seats, I'm just going off of what BBC tells me. The UK is heading towards the polarizing politics that defines American politics.

What this tells me is that labour mobilized fast after brexit and a lot of lay people who normally would abstain became "woke". Also, the anti corbyn rhetoric may be taking a bit of a backseat. People, primarily workers, are drawn to their blunt message of a government for the people. They didn't do like the American Dems of the 90s, when losing, become more centrist. The American left has a lot they can learn from this vote and the macron victory.

Also, ukip losing their one parliament seat made me chuckle.

They started doing this a few months back and liberal media collectively praised it. I don't think it wins them over in the polls but who knows.

Seat share went down for Conservatives but overall vote share went up, thanks to the collapse of the UKIP vote. Labours vote share went up by 9.5% but these weren't quite widespread enough to result in an overall majority.

Haha yeah I can't complain, my parents shop there when they can afford it! I'm more of a Sainsbury's guy myself, not that that means anything to anyone outside the UK haha

He's not a character on a fictional tv show though, probably a bad reason to like a politician

I don't see this as a bad thing ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I guess this is another example why I will forever never understand why people get mad at politicians for evolving their [previously bad] stances to adapt to the times, new experiences, etc as long as it's changed for the better. (ie: Clinton's flip on gay marriage)

Oh for sure. Not saying it's right, but he's what we want our politicians to look like, and what people want politics to represent in terms of his campaign. A large part of what brought voters to Labour, I think, is that they offered a symbol of hope in the same way Obama did in 2008. Yes the goalposts were different, hell the sport was completely different, but the representation of a positive alternative really inspires voters.

I mean if you don't like her because she's not left enough, I get it. But to not like her because of a policy change to the left simply because she once felt differently, I don't agree with that. How are you going to pull voters to the left if you don't accept when they and/or their representatives make leftist shifts in their views?

I'm on your side there. I completely agree. I'm just poking fun at the purity tests that get used sometimes. politicians are never perfect, but you elect the best you can then you try to fix their issues.

The morality policing of the right is weird considering the vile things they say about women and LGBTQ people and poor people and people of color and you get it but I could keep going
