I'm accepting defeat this time around. But I really feel Corbyn will win the next general election. There's reasons to be hopeful for the future but we have 5 painful years ahead.

Call me a pessimist, but I don't know that we get another shot with Corbyn. Not that he necessarily loses his leadership in the aftermath of this election, but I dunno... 5 years feels an eternity away at this point.

I just hope that in the event of a Labour loss, we're able to keep the base energised and build on what has been a very inspiring and encouraging campaign.

Anyone staying up to watch the results come in tonight? I never have in the past, and don't think I could stand the stress of it tonight. I might be dragged in though, I can't think about anything else.

I won't be staying up but I'll no doubt wake up very early and not be able to drop back off. So I'll watch the last few hours.

Went and voted today as well, yay for democracy! Not too sure how things will go down by my end (Thurrock) as our MP currently hasn't been very well received at all.

The calls for a second crossing and shutting down of hospitals; as well as a lack of not really caring about her constituency. She's been seen using her seat as a way to boost her record in parliament, so tonight will be interesting for us.

If Labour lose (likely outcome) then no, we should not keep Corbyn for 5 years until next election. This is Corbyn's moment. It's now or never. I wouldn't back him again if he's too stubborn to stand down after losing.

but yeah, don't need that convo just yet.

    I do not exist.

I'll probably go to bed after the exit polls and then wake up at 4am. We'll see what they're predicting at 10pm!

If Corbyn loses, I don't think he should lead us into the next general election. However, I do think he should stay on for a few years if necessary until he's in a position to successfully hand the leadership to an actual left wing successor, as well as to reshape the internal structures of the Labour party. Possible successors include Clive Lewis, Rebecca Long-Bailey or Richard Burgon. I don't like any of them as much as Corbyn but sadly there isn't a great deal of choice in the PLP. The right of the party cannot be allowed to take control.

Are there any possible new promising left candidates that might get a seat tonight?

In Edinburgh North and Leith there's a socialist candidate standing (Gordon Munro). The seat has an SNP majority of 5,600 but I was just reading on Twitter that Munro has apparently run a really strong campaign. Sturgeon did her final rally there so obviously they're on the defensive and it's up for grabs. A Corbynite Scottish MP would be great, as Scottish Labour desperately needs to embrace Corbynism. Kezia Dugdale, the Leader of the Scottish Labour Party, backed Owen Smith in the leadership contest last summer.

Wait...would this be a literal 314-314 split if LD joined with Labour and SNP? What happens then? lol
