I can tell a lot about a person based on forum posts and make irreversible decisions on if I like them or not (just in general, not romantically). No need to meet in person. What they write and how they write says more than I need to know about people haha

 

If you broke up with your significant other but you still live together until the lease ends, maybe 2-3 months... and basically have to share everything. Do you wait, out of respect for that person, until you move out and no longer see each other regularly before you start dating other people? Or do you make the Tinder account or whatever and start going out to meet the opposite sex right away?

Not looking for a black or white answer, but just polling how people feel on the matter. Wondering if living with someone and having leftover exposure to that person changes how you go about moving on.

Honestly I would probably wait. I would feel really awkward in that situation and couldn't handle doing it personally.

I would wait. Not just out of respect of the ex, but the new person you may start seeing. I know a lot of people who probably wouldn't be cool with starting to date someone who still lives with their ex.

There's an agreement not to bring anyone back to the house.

But she has been spending nights out, really freshly after we decided to break up; and for obvious reasons that's bringing me down.

I'm trying to be realistic/objective with myself about whether it's disrespectful when we just broke up a littlr under a week ago and have so little time left in this committed lease with each other.... or whether I just need to put my big boy pants on and stop acting like this is a respect issue just because I'm hurt.

 

I think you're free to meet people and stuff, as long as you aren't blatant and obnoxious about it. I think that's fair.

 

when my ex and I broke up we still lived together for 6 months afterwards. For some of that time he sort of stayed with a friend but still.

We both moved on rather quickly but it was a respect issue to not bring anyone around.

 

I lived with my daughter's mom basically 4 or 5 years after we stopped being a couple

have you ever thought someone was clever and quick witted via text and you meet in person and youre doing circles around them with jokes???? i've come to realize since ive been single that dudes who aren't quick on their toes bore me endlessly.

It's true though, a lot of what I text/post is a throwaway joke that I don't care about because I got tired of making a joke online and then seeing some fucking FAKE WILL FERRELL twitter account or whatever post my joke as theirs 2 days later
