  2. Sounds pretty accusatory. Don't know what you're referring to here.

  3. Well said, the media reaction to these kinds of attacks has been atrocious and followed closely by hysteria and bad information. America seems uniquely bad at handling any of this in the news. So we fall back on racism and fear.

  4. It's absolutely accusatory, but if that's how you feel quote them. I have no desire to be pulled into this again.

I think my argument still holds up in many regards. It is okay to be wrong in one's analysis. The point, however, is to shift accordingly as new evidence comes in. I'm not, however, going to get into a facile discussion about why "Islam is to blame" or some such bullshit. That is reactionary. I prefer trying to understand the phenomena. The underlying element remains: alienated youths, mostly male, who have a hatred for what the west represents, particularly as it relates to gender and their role within it, who found a framework through Daesh. It is no different than the alt-right and the mechanisms by which they came to their views. This doesn't absolve either of their fascistic and nihilistic political projects, but it demystifies this totalizing view that pays no attention to the nuances at hand, i.e., not every terrorist is the same, not every attack for which Isis claims responsibility actually is the case, not everything is predicated on an explicit religious project and so on and so on.

actually thought of that post as soon as i heard about the london attacks and, while i was definitely wrong, i still stand by the sentiments in it.

i will say that i do still think it's funny how transparent it is that the attacks in london and manchester have happened so close to polling day. obviously intending to play on people's fear and anguish in hopes for a tory government; but i apologize if my post came across as uppity.

also i think lumping the attacks in manchester and london in with what has happened in egypt and iraq would be a bit premature because, although i haven't seen any information about the london attackers, the mancherster bomber was definitely a brit. if it comes out that the london attackers were from syria or lybia etc. then sure, but for now i think they're two different beasts.

if corbyn loses on thursday i'll agree with your "everything fucking sucks" sentiments, but for now i'm holding out (a tiny sliver) of hope.

I remember reading a thing a few weeks after the election about crazy high amounts of Russian traffic on the webpage for the rural Wisconsin county my hometown is in. No breaches, I don't think, just seemed like the raptors in Jurassic park testing for weaknesses.
