I honestly don't want to live in the country anymore, I'm deeply scared shit is going to get so much worse.

 

Qatar situation is really weird...I guess there are some ideological differences between then and KSA, but they're relatively minor...its a matter of Muslim Brotherhood aligned Qatar and Wahhabist KSA. I mean, if the US and NATO/EU follow suit of their allies in the middle east in shunning Qatar (over what I still don't really know, it's obviously not "supporting terrorism," maybe supporting the wrong terrorist group too much or in direct conflict with KSA's terrorist groups?) then Qatar is going to be screwed economically. I mean, it seems like their flights are grounded, and Qatar airways is massive...Iran-aligned Qatar on the peninsula would be very interesting and...different. Which seems like their only option if they're cut off from all other gulf and gulf-aligned countries, plus their western allies. Maybe a (figurative) coup for Iran? Still don't really know what's going on at all.

To further complicate things: Turkey (Erdogan, AKP) is closer to Muslim Brotherhood than Wahhabism from what I understand, but hates Iran, and has strong connections to KSA. Weird weird.

Also, USA has 2 military bases in Qatar.

I want to say they draw bigger crowds than any other sport. I've been to one myself but just for the tailgating/drinking outside and there were gobs of people.
