I don't remember that, goddamnit. I just looked at his foreign policy and oof. I did switch to the Democratic Party in NY, in order to vote for Kucinich, though. He was ahead of his time.

Out of interest, has the issue of Nuclear disarmament ever even come up in America? I would assume not outside of the absolute fringe of politics but I'd like to be proven wrong!

There are various interests groups and the farther left actually want nuclear disarmament. Both major parties, however, make it a point to talk about how they'd initiate a first strike and/or how they're updating them to the latest technology. There is an aspirational quality among liberals, e.g., "If only we could have a world without nuclear weapons." No one takes it seriously.

Ah. Admittedly it's still a fairly left leaning policy here (even though Corbyn is for it, the majority of the Labour party isn't, only the SNP, Plaid Cymru and the Greens are fully in favour of removal), but certainly more mainstream than that. Certainly sucks that it isn't more widely debated. I think we could get nuclear disarmament in 10-15 years time here, although I fear that might be too late.

John Kerry was a pretty bad candidate.

Would have voted for John Kerry over Bush. Would vote for him in 2020 over Trump.

I did vote for Kerry over Bush. Turned out one of my ex-wife's biggest embarrassing secrets was that she voted Bush in 2000 lol

I turned 17 in 2000 so I missed out on that election but took an American Civics course that year and we had to choose a candidate and write a favorable argument on a specific domestic or foreign issue. I picked GWB and his domestic housing policies (don't ask me why)... for some reason back then I didn't want Gore as president because he was more or less boring.

Anyone following the situation at Evergreen State College? I watched the teacher's interviews with Rubin and Rogan and it seems like the student protestors have taken control of the school.

Damn, some people in here are old as fuuuuuuuuu...Sorry

I did a mock vote on an iMac G3 in my fourth grade classroom in 2000. I voted for Bush because my parents were going to. I think they may have actually counted the votes cast at my school for him (Florida, ya know).

I'm not happy Trump fans/voters are getting what they voted for...but I'm definitely not sorry about it. I think I've made it clear in past discussions that I will not ever forgive Trump voters for getting that fuckhead elected.

If they hate it so much, they can vote differently next time. Or not. Let the millennials and the minorities make it happen for them. They'll still reap the benefits if the lefty wins....of course, they'll be screaming "Socialism!" and "Take your government hands off my public health care" the whole way there.

Honestly, he'd think that would be a clever joke to make, too.
