I just don't get why it's a big deal to some people. He's anti-killing that should make it clear he's not supporting terrorists.

I liked his performance but I think there seems to be consensus among the commentators that he was rattled on questions about nuclear defence.

He did really well but unfortunately much of the audience were seemingly frothing at the mouth over the thought of nuking other countries, so he was questioned a lot on that topic. I think he dealt with it as best as he could tho.

There was also someone complaining about raising the minimum wage to £10, I don't know where the BBC finds these weirdos.

I think May had small wobbles on Mental Health, Social Care and Education against Corbyn having a big one on Nuclear weapons. Votes will be won and lost depending on how passionate people are on each issue, I think.

I'd say May had a huge wobble when that woman broke down in front of her about her mental health issues and how poorly she's been treated as a result of Tory policy.

Sounds like more people agree with you than I thought! This is what I get for talking to my Tory-voting housemate about it, haha.

    Every day is interesting:

Old white man in only denim coveralls (chest and arm hair in sweater-like density) and an FBI hat comes up to my desk and takes a "How to Start a Business In *City*" pamphlet

*yelling 2 feet from my face* "I CAN'T TAKE THIS IF IT'S THE LAST ONE CAN I ?"
"It's all yours, we've got tons in the supply room"
    ".....SO I CAN TAKE IT?"
"Yup! I'll refill them up here before I leave"
".....My name is S. What's your name? I mean, the first letter of your first name, don't tell me your full name!"
    "Uh....D?"
"Hi D....the S is for Superman!" *flexes and nip slip and turns and walks away*
    "Uh....well you have a good weekend, S"

My question is what kind of business is he planning to start?

  15. I don't know why you think anyone is "edgy"? I don't see anything "edgy" about that post. I've read similar statements that I would describe as more "edgy" from you in this thread in the midst of a "fuck everyone" post. I don't know what your point here is?

I know you have issues with people in this thread and lots of barbs have been thrown back and forth, but I've never seen anyone treat you, in this thread, with the same inhumanity that I am referring to, nor have I seen responses that I think show humanity as stated in the referenced tweets in return. People are pissed off, as you've said you are, and I think rightfully so in many cases. Maybe I missed the argument, but that doesn't change my feeling on matter ... if you see humanity in them, then great, you're a better person then me. I don't.

I don't think I need the far right to "win." It's fine if people disagree with me on that, but I don't have any desire to try and win over bigots anymore. I just don't.

Multiple things: 1) I never said I was glad a Trump voter is suffering. 2) I don't think it will make everyone go left. 3) I think we should have universal health care and if the Trump voter doesn't want to take it, fine, they don't have to, but I'm not going to spend my time trying to convince them to vote for it. I think I can help get it passed without those voters. And those voters are the ones I care about reaching and convincing to vote.

I didn't see anyone say what you put in quotes, let alone me. So I don't know who you are talking to here.

I don't think you can bring many of the specific voters I've talked about over. I think we have a lot of evidence to see people locked into specific beliefs that aren't changing. I think given finite time and resources there's far better ways to unlock the electorate ... specifically in fixing voter suppression, gerrymandering, and putting forth inspiring candidates on the left. I think unlocking that is a better use of time than convincing a transphobic asshole of anything. Others are more than willing to keep trying that angle as well, I'm specifically addressing where I think the time is better spent after a decade and a half of seeing these same debates go nowhere.

Reason 1, reason 2, reason 3, reason 4. (Roughly in descending order of nerd-ery.)

I find these personal jabs at people in this thread about "not caring" utterly absurd and in most case verifiably un-true.

I don't think the answer is bringing people over from the other side, I think it's getting otherwise disengaged people off the sidelines. Turnout of more left wing thinking people, not convincing Trump voters

  22. Haha if the argument was the candidate was so bad cause of the baggage, establishment, and a terribly bad candidate --- we should think that ball of nothing should be a shoe in. And I don't think Booker will have the same "can't vote for ____" feature that Clinton does.

And I hope he doesn't run.

I think Booker's been experiencing a bit of a backlash. People see him as a hollow, particularly because of his ties to DeVos, the pharmaceutical industry and Wall Street.
