I feel like there is probably someone itt that voted for trump. that scares me

I think people ignored parts of his platform that they didn't agree with because lots of people are single issue voters, I can't say voting for Hillary was completely different, the stuff they didn't care enough about just happens to be important

 

Actually, yes, some are too 'stupid', and they still are buying into shit.

Some are hopeless because they will be stubborn, others are not and can be educated which can get them to turn around. You have to learn to reason with people via debate and discussion. It can work sometimes. I think we've all seen that video of Bernie calling out Trump supporters and they were stumped and couldn't say anything.

I think you're trying too hard to put everyone into one group. I don't know why you think that makes things better, but there you go.

I know you're trying to seem "nice" or whatever by assuming people aren't that ignorant, but I don't know why you're so insistent about this.

Of course many of them knew, but some (again, SOME) did not.

There are those that did know enough and wanted it, those that did know and didn't care, and those that didn't really know or get it. Some of these people fell for the shit he said. He criticized Hillary for a lot of shit he's doing now.

 

Yeah but I wouldn't expect countless thinkpieces and tweetstorms imploring people to feel bad for me or other people who held their nose and voted for Hillary if she won and started a major war and a draft was reinstated that forced me to go fight.

Trump's base approval rate sits right about where it's always been. I don't think an argument over if the voters were "ignorant" or "duped" matters. If they still approve of him right now, ignorance is no longer an excuse.

 

And I think you defend the very very few that actually didn't know or get it because you have them in your life, but I think you extrapolate those people out to be way more of his base than there actually are. Most of these people are plenty capable to understand what they voted for. I don't know what the percentage is but it's definitely a very large majority.

And not just for him, but for the Republican Party too. Trump ran as a Republican, and it was clear he had no idea what he was talking about on virtually any topic, so it was pretty clear you were getting the Republican agenda along with him. And the Republican agenda has been very clear for years now---fuck the poor, voodoo economics, war is good, the environment can fuck off, etc.

And the one part about the original tweet I'll say I agree with: I think the Trump voter should get public support (assuming this means healthcare), specifically because I think we should implement universal healthcare and it should help even the people that didn't want it once implemented. If they wanna reject the care cause it's socialist then, fine. But I'm not fighting for their vote on the issue in the meantime. They can take their socialist medicine or not.

 

The utter lack of self-awarness from the NYT and their journalists scares me.
