Best Coast and Mad Caddies ay? Hmmm there's certainly a combo of bands that could get me to go for a day or two.
    - Jawbreaker, New Order, Paramore, ATDI, Gogol Bordello, TBS, NFG, Bad Brains, Bosstones, X, Bayside, Best Coast, Streetlight Manifesto, Buzzcocks, Fishbone, mad Caddies

Unfortunately, those bands spread out 3 days isn't as exciting (which is what will happen). It's a good lineup. It has its moments.

  2. Has Riot Fest sold single-day tickets in the past? I just discovered that the September LSAT date is the Saturday morning of Riot Fest weekend so I'm out of the picture for Friday but would definitely still like to go Sunday and maybe Saturday depending on the schedule.

Yeah, they usually put single day tickets on-sale after they announce the daily line-ups. That will probably be in July at some point.

  4. Awesome thanks, that's a huge relief. As long as I can get there Sunday to see Jawbreaker I'll be okay.

Yea that's true I think people (myself included) just assumed that with as many as were getting added, it would be a big announcement. Learned my lesson haha

No PVRIS is disappointing. Hopefully this means they'll be doing a US tour in October.

The announcement is definitely a little underwhelming. But I do love the Mad Caddies and I missed Cap n Jazz last time they played Riot Fest, so I'm actually ok with the announcement.

I mean, technically the email from RF yesterday said "more" artists will be announced today. Could be a third wave maybe? The email also said they would announce more album plays today which I don't think they did (unless I missed it...) so who the fuck knows.

I have a hard time shitting on them too much because they put on a good show. But I have a hard time praising them completely because they also just do weird stuff sometimes that doesn't make much sense.

It reminds me of bamboozle a little in that the end product ends up being solid and the best option for people who like this sort of thing, but also in that it's a relatively messy operation that seems to stumble a few times a year.

As someone who has attended both, a very apt comparison.

as someone who laughs at the ineptitude of bamboozle and its downfall all the time.... i dont find that riotfest is even close to that level. While announcing the bands in different waves is annoying, bamboozle's inability to release ANY information (sometimes as late as 6 weeks before the show) was a WHOLE new level.

Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

I thought the second wave announcement was really good, and makes me more bummed I'll be missing this

As a Riot Fest lineup, I'm still pretty underwhelmed. However, I'm VERY excited for the shows that get routed through Michigan the weeks before and after though.

  15. Dream after show: Menzingers playing OTIP and/or ATP with the Smith Street Band opening

I somehow missed that the Smith Street Band is playing Riot Fest? That's awesome, I really liked them when they opened for the Front Bottoms a while back

They are billed way lower than expected, definitely easy to miss. I don't see how they could possibly be billed lower than Sleep On It

Well Sleep On It is a Chicago band so I'm sure that helped. I wouldn't have expected SSB to be much higher, but I would've thought maybe like where Beach Slang is or the line right above. Regardless, pretty exciting to find out today!

  20. Sleep On It's manager is also one of the organizers of Riot Fest, so I imagine that might get them a boost on the poster.

I hope smith street doesn't get shafted on the schedule because they are definitely a must see for me.
