I can't even really tell. That Obama is failing because he's not stopping Trump from rolling back his climate policies? That Obama used to say he was good at the end of games, and now he's failing cause he's not out making speeches against Trump or something? No clue. The expectations for Obama are beyond what any ex-President has ever seen. It's weird shit. But I hate the "politics as game" coverage from journalists.

 

When you mix Christianity with a Hobbesian outlook on the world and a fanatical belief in individualism, it leads to situations like this.

 

I think this is what happens when you pretend to watch sports, then attempt to use it as a metaphor.

Yo, long-time lurker here dropping in to say hi. Probably not gonna be a regular poster but I read this thread every day so it would be nice to chip in now and then.

Just want to say thanks to all who post in here, I learn so much from the discussions that go on. I'm in the UK, in a deeply conservative constituency, a royal mail postman whose colleagues pay union subs, hate the privatisation of their jobs, but think Corbyn is mad and want to elect May. Needless to say, seeing like-minded people posting here keeps me sane.

Now supporting these policies requires the party to depend on the altruistic idealism of millions of supporters who, despite being relatively well off, often feel financially pressed themselves.

The lesson is: fuck the rich. Stop making policy for them. Punish them for being rich by redistributing their wealth.

can we tax the shit out of the corps tho pls? I mean there's more money being hoarded in these American businesses than any other entire country's economy. The laws that allow them to thrive the way they do matters so much for how our wealth is distributed.
