Yeah, I've just recently started looking into it because I know my deferments are pretty close to running out. The problem ends up being that because I work so much my payments are still gonna be really high as far as I understand it when I spoke with the representative from Nelnet. I'm on an income based payment plan for my small student loan through Navient which is nice but I'll be paying on it for a lot longer than I should be for a 4,000 dollar loan.

You are right though. There are so many scams out there. There's so much disinformation out there too. I've read that they can garnish your wages and had a person from my loan company tell me on the phone before that they can, but then I've also read it's not true.

It's so discouraging because like I said before, I work at a school that qualifies for the loan forgiveness program and after another year or so I would qualify to have around 30,000 of my student loans forgiven but, if I read correctly Betsy Devoes said something about trying to get rid of the program that obama had set up.

I'm a lot of things, but the only time I ever feel confident in complimenting myself on the fact that I work my ass off. So, I never really understand when I talk to people (I live in trump county) and say I need help whether it be from government agencies or somewhere else and they say things like "that's just lazy" or say "I just want a handout." I'm like I work 14 hours a day Monday - Friday and usually work on the weekends grading papers and getting caught up on my school duties or go to one of my other jobs. I wouldn't really call that being lazy.

Oh yeah, I also love the "you're a teacher and get so many days off, you're already overpayed." That's usually when I lose it. I work a full time job during the summer, part time job during the summer, have various trainings I have to go to as a teacher, etc.

I'm a pretty prideful person and have taken great pride in working as much as I have for so long with the mindset that one day it's going to pay off and recently I've just been seeing the signs that this couldn't be further from the truth.

Edit: If I was even remotely tech savvy I would post a screenshot of all the missed phone calls just from today that I have received from creditors.

Double Edit: Also, I apologize for all the ranting I've just never been able to talk to anyone that even remotely understands other than a few close friends and my wife. So, I know it's selfish to think this way, but it's actually refreshing to talk to people who not only understand, but also care.

hey i know this may not be the right thread for it but i just started posting here again because well last time i was around i was in the midst of a pretty bad relapse but as of today i am three months clean from my relapse and that seems significant and many of you have shown me a lot of love and support ever since this whole battle started in the fall of 2015 so thank you to everyone here and im glad to be in the proper state of my mind to be posting here again

One thing you can keep telling yourself is that you're doing right by your kids, and you're pushing forward. That's a big thing man. Don't be afraid to take pride in that and feel confident in that. That responsibility, that drive, and that acknowledgment ... that's no small thing.

And it's just my opinion, but fuck the people that talk down to you like that ... that's some straight up bullshit and that usually comes from exceptionally small people. I know it can be hard, but don't let that nonsense get you down.

 

As long as they change the name of a certain song/don't play it ... I wonder if anyone remembers that band

A lot of people probably love that band but have no idea who they are, they were on some sick mixtapes back in the day. I remember thinking I'll catch them on their headliner when they opened for TREOS and envy, so I missed them by a few minutes... still fucking hate myself for that.
