  1. Totally agree with the national message. And yeah he was outspent. But I actually think the result is a good one for showing where the country is as a whole. It should mean we can pick up maybe 60 seats at least.

That they had to spend 4 mil on what should have been a very safe seat is pretty telling.

  2. I agree. But I do think she's a brilliant tactician for getting things through. Unsure how many other people could have done what she did. I just ideologically didagree with her a lot. Hah.

I would assume the counter-argument here is that there are upcoming seats that are much more up for grabs than Montana ever was, and even in a race they spent nothing on, the "environment" made a sizeable shift to the left, which is therefore the green light to throw money at the more winnable opportunities?

I've not heard their reasoning on the matter quite honestly.

  7. All student loans should be forgiven. It's the single biggest drain I see on people 20-40, no matter what the job.

My life would be drastically changed by a degree usually reserved for miracles. And I think a lot of other peoples' would be too.

  9. I think it would dramatically change the country. And the country owes a lot of people from 15-40 a "I'm Sorry" for the bill of goods they sold everyone on 100k educations.

We just need fuckin social programs. Everyone should be able to go to school.

I wish I was born somewhere else.

Would be nice, I don't think our country is even close to that solution though. Even if just the interest was forgiven it would be a big lift, that way they can actually be paid off. Also, expand the options of income-based deferment and forbearance.

I would be able to provide my family with a house, have emergency money in the bank, and the list goes on and on.

But instead I get to pay rent, which is probably about 500-600 dollars a month more than I would pay on a house payment/insurance/taxes.

Bank is constantly in the negatives and getting NSF fees.

Digging for change to get gas to make it to work.

And the list goes on and on and on.

I don't even know where to start in terms of taking action. Write politicians? Who to vote for that is truly going to help me? I'm at a pretty big loss. This thread keeps me sane in knowing I'm not the only one who feels the way I do and I don't comment a lot in here, but just lurking and learning has helped me tremendously.

The most frustrating thing is hearing "it will get better" or "there is a light at the end of the tunnel." I've been working since I was 14 years old and what in the fuck do I have to show for it? Oh yeah, 100,000 dollars in debt.

  14. Yeah, our country wants some new fucking bombs and shit instead. But the debt people are saddled with is absolutely crushing to anyone not making a lot of money right out of the gate. And I have friends that make quite a bit of money, and they still haven't paid off their loans. And having that debt, as laid out above, ends up fucking you in so many other places ... outside of your control ... where you pay more for things or have interest ... and it leads to credit card debt next, and it's all bullshit and was preventable if the government and teachers were more upfront about the whole "go drop 6 figures on college" thing and how it was basically needed/expected no matter what and no one gave any guidance around it.

Sorry, this always gets me riled up. It infuriates me. I've been working with a bunch of post college people (and my sister and gf) and I see it all the fucking time.

Oh yeah, my favorite is "you were the one who decided to have all those kids."

Okay, but as an American, who at one point truly believed in the American Dream, shouldn't I be able to provide for them. I did everything that society said I needed to do and it isn't enough.

    - graduated high school
    - went to college
    - got a job
    - got married
    - had kids

I've just accepted that I am not allowed to have "fun" as an adult or do anything for myself. I am allowed to work and take my kids to the beach (because its free and I can almost afford it).

Edit: I really hate that it took me so long to figure all of this out.

I can definitely sympathize with others in here.

I would love to have kids sometime within the next 5 years, but my student loans scare me far too much. I'm doing fine on my own, but when $1k goes toward loans each month, idk how sustainable it'll be. Guess I need to hope for some crazy good raises over the next few years.

Oh, I wasn't disagreeing with you at all. I am 100% on board with loan forgiveness as I myself suffer from them, as well as every single person I know no matter what their jobs are now. It's all bullshit. I believe our country will get there eventually, however I have solemnly accepted my (our) place cemented in history as the generation who got royally fucked with education and student loans and loan interest in the time period between affordable college costs.

I was privileged enough to avoid student loans and I'm not sure how I'll afford things, I can't even imagine what I'd do with that added expense or regular medical expenses, the whole system is messed up

  24. I have a kid, and it's been tough. We just finished paying off our student loans but our monthly childcare costs are still $1,000 for daycare alone, doesn't even include food/clothes/health insurance, etc. And that's a good deal for our area.
