ESPN says the Steelers best offseason acquisition was Alualu. Lol. Did they really have that bad of a year?

Their dl just gives up after awhile so... kinda. I said this before though, the defense overachieves every year.

 

Probably more of a statement of how little depth we needed overall, and the fact that most of our draft picks wont have major impacts this year.

Our DE spot was very thin last year. Think Tuitt played like 100% of the snaps in a half dozen games, and 95+% in a few others. So anyone that can step in and play 20-30% of snaps is a big signing. Compared to ILB, CB, or WR, where we're 4-5 deep and nobody is cracking the starting lineup

 

I'm pretty confident that Alualu will be a good part of our rotation and be able to spell Tuitt/Heyward nicely. Like you alluded to, he's not going to be a starter but if he can take the pressure off our top two guys better than Walton or Mathews did, I'll be happy. Plus, he was relatively cheap too if I'm remembering his contract info correctly.

 

What do you mean their draft picks won't have big impacts?!? They drafted Colin Holba!!!
