Listen to "All on Black, and the whole Good Mourning album. Some weird production on the bass/drums, but Matt shot his voice out prior to recording and all that combined gives the whole album a dark dreary vibe that is awesome, and juxtaposes well with Dan Andriano's 'happier' songs on the record.

Let's hold our breath until we disappear

It's tough for me. I alternate between this and From Here to Infirmary.

From Here To Infirmary and Good Mourning are my no doubt favorites. I like the self-titled compilation more than Goddamnit too. Not that all of these aren't absolute classics.

  4. How no one has mentioned Jaked on Green Beers or She Lied to the FBI confounds me.

Jaked On Green Beers is awesome. Remains is awesome. FBI is easily my least favorite Trio opener though. Feels like they tried to write a Ramones song, something that almost never works for me personally

Don't wanna start a Trio album ranking in here lol, but let me just say I have Agony & Irony ranked unusually high on my list. Good Mourning is #1, but A&I, My Shame is True, and From Here to Infirmary rotate in the next 3 slots.

I overplayed the hell out of Crimson when it first came out and it eventually sank down to my least favorite (until This Addiction came out), but it has since rebounded pretty well for me. Threw those songs on a couple months ago and I was like holy shit I forgot I loved all this hah

    Regular

That goes back to your first part. Tom did what he could. He knew he couldn't do the drums that Travis could.
Maybe Mark wouldn't have been so pissed if the band didn't play shows etc. i.e. It was just a way for him to try out some ideas. Hard to say though.

  8. Do You Wanna Know is absolutely one of my favorite Trio songs ever.

  9. Also, I feel once Derek joined the band they reached a new high besides This Addiction.

Yep yep. My top Dan songs do rotate but that one probably spent the most time as my #1. Should have been a single.

I love Derek but the drums and jammy outros of old Trio are probably my most missed elements of any band.

    Things have changed.

Tom played bass on the album.

  13. I often wonder if the band intended for it to be a single and the record company said no.

That reminds me, all the talk about the different dummers for the Vandals, and Derek filled in for Josh Freese on tour a couple times.

IIRC, that song wasn't even supposed to be on the album but the label forced them to add it because they liked it so much. THat was the story, anyway. Which would make you think they would have forced the issue with a single and a video....Help Me was decently successful too and for some reason the label seemed to abandon the album after that.

The drums in the final chorus of Goodbye Forever just sound ridiculous to me haha, in a good way I mean. It's kind of crazy that they went to that kind of out of control style of Glenn to the much tighter style of Felumlee to Derek's...i don't even know how to describe his style I'm not that good at this lol

  17. I agree with this, the thing I love about Derek is that he lays down such a nice sweet groove. Man when him and Dan sink in together it's beautiful.

  18. I always wondered why Epic gave up on it. That album had more than a couple songs that would have done well on the radio.

Agreed. Calling All Skeletons, Do You Wanna Know?, and I Found Away were all poppy enough to be decent alt radio songs. In Vein and Love Love Kiss Kiss maybe too.

Easily. I heard Crimson by them first and almost wrote them off. I don't like their corny vampire songs

Your Neck is awful (though I do enjoy the little piano riff and the layered vocals of the last chorus), but the album overall is good.

  22. They aren't vampire songs.... but whatever.

  23. Your Neck is a cool song, Dethbed is such a catchy fucking tune though. Than you have Smoke and I Was A Prayer that are two of my favorite Dan songs ever.

Your Neck? Their goth schtick is lame. Give me songs about drinking yourself to death.
