heres a feature I want and I dont mean to be greedy because this update has been great but here goes, and I know this would probably throw off comps and such but w/e: i wish we could "lock in" a hero before we join a match like in HoTS. Idk I just hate having to scramble to Lucio or Ana and then kinda having to slump away to a dps or tank im not super familiar with. but thats really just me being nitpicky because 9 times out of 10 its not an issue. But still, would be a neat feature for people that play the more popular heroes.

 

Would that mean it doesn't team you up with others who have 'locked' that character? I still haven't gotten around to HOTS and at this point it's looking less and less likely I will.

But as a support main in comp, I rarely find others grabbing support before I can. And when there's multiple support mains on a team? We all just collectively shrug and have lowered expectations for the match outcome. :P

 

i guess. the way it works in HoTS is you select a character, theres like 66 right now, and then quick play finds you a match that best suits the "role" of the hero you picked. Sometimes its a little wonky like ive been placed in 3 support teams before, theres like 4 roles much OW, but usually its really good at finding a team that matches your hero. I think the same could work with OW since much like HoTS you cant pick duplicate characters in QP or Comp, the only issue would be OW has less characters so it may make finding a match take a little longer.

Yeah ultimately its a really small gripe since I usually can grab the support I want and sometimes its nice to blow off steam with a DPS character I love like Junkrat.

Yeah that idea is a bit off putting, the game is supposed to be about switching around if things don't work, locking down one character seems to sort of negate that. I mean, I know you could switch off if you need to but seems unnecessary imo

 

Ahh, gotcha. I do like the sound of that, but with fewer characters in OW it might not work as well as you noted. I don't care about QP implementation, but the idea of having that sort of system for comp matches would be pretty useful. Potentially less fighting over characters.

yeah and i get this perspective too. obv like you said Rob you could ofc switch heroes DURING the match, but I could see how people just dont like the idea of locking in any heroes at all. ultimately, as ive noted above, its a really really small gripe especially when theres more pressing things to be concerned with like Symmetras teleporter bug is still around and more importantly they didnt name the Jazz Lucio skin King Of Swing and he doesnt yell "BREAK IT DOWN DADDY-OH" when he ults so as of right now the games literally unplayable for me 0/10 blizzard

on a more serious note, I LOVE the jazz music that comes with that skin. Its so great, little piano lounge-room sound jazz for the healing, chaotic loud horns and drumming for the speed. absolutely a brilliant idea.
