Terror will always make the news, and it should (more important is HOW it's covered). If it bleeds, it leads

i mean I don't think any of this is funny, and you're ignoring that they see this as a holy war. that's why Christianity in most of MENA is pretty much gone. remember the other day, what i transcribed from that Armenian guy who was talking to destiny?? I think people should have actually read that. but ok.

islamism is a much bigger problem than you all care to admit. this isn't a "right wing thought", it's just the state of the world right now. so you can't say "don't be islamophobic" and only leave it at that anymore because everyone who already is feels justified time and time again, and will recoil in stubbornness and defensiveness and be even more angry about it. and hardly anyone on the real 'left' (as opposed to a liberal) has a loud reply to this anymore. when they do, it's not what is making the news or headlines.

we should all be talking about foreign policy, who the West considers allies, acknowledging genocide, economics, and profiteering, but instead this is all reduced to mainstream politics of "don't be racist" vs "ban all immigrants/muslims". let's be real - what sounds like a "solution" to the average person, even if it's based on fear mongering and reactionary politics? especially minority people from MENA who have suffered the worst of this, and even some Muslims themselves? it's like they're shooting themselves in the foot, but they've escaped and don't want the same situation here that they've escaped from. that's why they voted for Trump - although now I'm sure they regret it because he's done everything he criticized Hillary for doing, especially after this week. and anyone who's still defending him is convinced by anti Iranian, moreover anti Shia to an extent, propaganda.

unfortunately, more people than you realize don't understand what's going on like @Wharf Rat does. it's a cycle of wahhabism vs islamophobia and it's just going to keep going because that's how this works. along with all the interventions that should have never happened. and all the propaganda about Russia, Iran, etc.

we know this is an endless cycle of horrible foreign policy, genocide, and ignorance and hypocritical narratives on both sides, particularly when it comes to politicians. I don't trust or care for what any politician has to say anymore because not one of them has the thought to do what they should be doing when it comes to foreign affairs, funding, and who they consider allies.

you can try all you want to just say "don't be racist" and protest and that's nice, but nobody will care or find it believable when they want to feel safe and people are dying. the fear gets to them. you know how this goes by now. right wing fuels right wing. and the center ends up only fueling the right wing too.

it's like clockwork and if it doesn't break with very, very loud anti imperialist/intervention talks and responses that includes how the west is at fault for at least the past few decades, we are stuck between basic liberalism and fascism. and that is what has led us here today.

if Corbyn is the leftist he really is, we can only hope that he'd break up this cycle as much as he can if he wins, and not just with speeches, but with an actual 180 on policy.

Master of not knowing what the hell I'm doing.

I guess my point really focuses on the bit you're saying about the centre- What can be done is to stop the centre from appeasing the right wing. A narrative against these kinds of things can have nuance if that narrative reaches widely and is spoken loudly enough. But regardless, Corbyn's ability to act against this really isn't much unless Labour comes to power. Wanting a change in policy is all well and good, but when acts like this happen at a time like this (which I'm not sure is particularly common, honestly) it's the narrative that matters because that's how they get into a position where the power can shift to the left. I absolutely agree that the vicious cycle can only stop with policy change, but nothing can be done about that until after the 8th of June and even then that comes with a lot of caveats, so the narrative we spread is really all we can control at this point.

Just caught Trey Gowdy on his questioning. Man, that guy is not a good hombre. He was hanging on the way the former CIA chief answered one question. Nothing was accomplished.

What does claim responsibility mean, though? They trained this person? They sent this person? This person visited their website, proclaimed allegiance to ISIS, then acted out in a violent manner? They claimed responsibility for the attacks in California, but there was no evidence that they provided any support. In any case, I'm skeptical of these claims, because the point of terror groups is to make one feel as though they're everywhere. It seems much more sound to treat these phenomena as we treat mass shooters, regardless of what their stated intention is.
