i love love love this band but even i gotta side-eye this cruise thing or whatever it is. what a weird and pricey way of trying to get your name out there. like ok im cool with you guys transitioning into this alt rock americana tinged style, thats fine and its panned out quite well over these last 2 albums or so, but this is just....bizarre to try and attempt. like some have said above, this could be a big failure but i hope it isnt.

Doesn't bother me at all. I don't really see a lot of people paying that much for TBS, but if you want an island vacation maybe that's a good option with the shows as a bonus? Idk I can never afford a vacation anyway

Is it just their way of making their family vacations a tax write-off?

People being "done with a band" over a show they don't have to buy a ticket for is some super dumb shit.

Yeah right. it's not like the band is forcing you to attend. I personally think it's an odd choice but that's just me, I hope it's successful and lots of fans show up

im also tempted i wont lie but yeah same. it would certainly be a very cool memory to have. i gotta commend the band for doing stuff like this and branching out but i get the "this is weird" comments. what i dont understand is just cutting the band out and being done over something like this haha.

Bands with established fanbases have done this stuff before. I actually know two people who went to something like this for Dave Matthews.

i will never understand the love for DM. I could totally see like, 3EB or someone like that doing this though

I think a big draw with DMB is the community aspect of it. They're a very good live band which has created this concertgoing community for them like Deadheads or Parrotheads, etc.

makes sense. i guess that can also be applied to Counting Crows since their live shows are such a momentous occasion where they play around with the songs and add new verses or instrumentals. Them doing "Thunder Road" in the middle of "Rain King" is one of the coolest live things I've ever seen.

Yeah Pearl Jam and Springsteen have that same allure. You might see them 10 times and never hear the same set.

  17. I saw Dave Matthews Band a couple years ago in New Hampshire. I don't know much of their discography, and looking at Setlist FM prior to our show, I was worried they wouldn't play the few songs I wanted to hear/know. Luckily though, they played everything I wanted to hear!

And god damn, they can pull a huge crowd. College kids with dreads and birckenstocks as far as the eye can see! They ate that shit up.

If me and my g/f had the money we'd go to that show no doubt. An island vacation with a show every night by a band we like? That'd be awesome.

I also assume that the set list for each night would be different, no doubt.

All-inclusive resorts are no doubt the best vacations to go on. My wife and I have done two (Punta Cana & Jamaica) and they seem expensive on the surface, but really, they're not that expensive when you think about. Both of our trips were $1,500 each (or less) per person. If you go anywhere in the US for a week vacation, you're going to spend a shitload in airfare, hotels, food and drinks. I know for me alone, food and drinks for a week would be in the upper hundreds.

The problem with this 'all inclusive' is it doesn't include airfare, which is kind of a sham. Every all-inclusive I've ever looked into includes airfare. The airfare alone will cost people an extra 600-900 for this trip.

TBS did a Q&A on Twitter last week about this and they said the only reason they're doing this is bc they're friends with the same promoters who did the Hanson one and were told it was pretty easy to coordinate. They insinuated they have no idea how it'll go. I honestly can't imagine more than a couple hundred people booking a vacation for this. They also said they reserved the entire resort for this, so it's going to look really strange if not a lot of people show up. Also, wondering if the band realizes that the resort probably isn't that big. so if they want to hang out and get food/drinks/relax, they're likely going to have to mingle with all these people. Both resorts I've stayed at, there's really only a handful of bars/restaurants/pools, etc. You see the same people from the resort all over the place. No place to really hide. Maybe they'll be fine with that exposure to the fans and everything, but I doubt they're going to want to be swarmed by fans each and every day.

Also, they said on Q&A they weren't planning as of now to do any albums in its entirety.

I don't know. I commend the band for doing something outside the box, but I really, really think this is a reach. It's not like they're in the prime of their career, or a legendary band. And I say that as TBS being one of my top 3-5 bands of all-time.

WYWTB is my favorite as well. Fantastic album

I think this is going to be pretty cool to see. I don't think this will end very well but if there was another act from the scene back in the days (something like a TSL) associated with it - it would be a lot better. 4 nights is a lot too
