I'm willing to hold off on the KO/AJ rematch if that means we can get KO/Rosenberg next. Haha.

It can be when we're talking about underdogs winning a fight. These things happen all the time in literally every arena of sport.

I suppose what side of the debate you're on hinges on how you consume pro wrestling. Are you viewing it as a kayfabe product, or are you taking the Inside Baseball approach and looking at it from a booking/business perspective.

Put all the belts on KO and let him lead all commentary and interview segments. KO 24/7.

That's true, and that's a tough answer for me to give because it's probably a mixture of both. I definitely don't like the idea of it being booked the same way as legit sports solely because Vince doesn't know anything about legit sports lol

Also, real bad night to be a Bray wyatt and becky lynch fan. One for the "what it could have been", and the other for forever eating pins

I've been trying to follow it more like a kayfabe product, and this is awful from that perspective. As a business move it may be smart, who knows. They also might have just created a shittier version of Roman though...not sure thats helpful

I feel like tonight as a good lessen in stopping taking wrestling so seriously. Who cares if stuff didn't make perfect sense. At the end of the day the show was entertaining and that is all that matters.

How is this awful from a kayfabe perspective, though? Explain it to me. I'd also like to remind you that the Celtics just beat the Cavs in Cleveland after being down by 20, so please don't come at me with "It's unrealistic because he lost a match to Mojo a month ago!"

He had no business being in a #1 contenders match. Pretty simple. He lost 3 matches in 8 days in a combined 7 minutes. Two of the people he lost to were in that #1 contenders match. In MMA, UFC would have fired him before the 3rd match even happened.

Its like putting the Knicks in the playoffs and saying their one win over the Cavs justifies it.

Of course, nobody really belonged in that #1 contenders match. Rowan, Dolph, etc definitely didnt. Sami had just lost a shot at a lesser title. Mojo was maybe the only one with an argument on the back of winning the ARMBAR and squashing Jinder

edit: And then if I think of it from a booking/business perspective, it becomes clear that this was the impromptu plan they came up with after the last second decision to move Bray to RAW and the timing with WWE Shop India. Otherwise they wouldnt have Jinder lose those 3 matches.

Yeah I cant agree with the sports comparisons. I don't mind Jinder getting the strap. Belts are meaningless right now in WWE. But he was like the Cleveland Browns of the WWE a few months ago. Unless you think the Browns stand a shot this year....

@Drew Beringer honest question, how is Nak a reason to watch Smackdown in any way? He has had one great match since debuting in NXT imo, his first one. Everything else has been average. If he isn't wrestling, he's swaggering around and saying maybe three words.

The reason Jinder works is because when done right having a face chase the heel champion is a much more compelling long term story than "guy everyone likes is succesful all the time". JBL as World Champ was a wet fart to many at the time and wound up being a great era for Smackdown despite being thinner on talent than ever.

Jinder was the mid-major of March Madness and you're just a hater.;-)

This all makes enough sense, but WWE has always put the "anything can happen" over everything else. People are more compelled to watch when the narrative is "who will be the #1 contender" than when it's "well x beat y a couple of times so it'll probably be z"

Fair. And I wanted Breezango to beat the Usos, despite them having about as much legitimacy. But at least that was built to in a way that kind of made it clear how absurd it was.

  21. What was entertaining about it? This is just another example of the development show outclassing the main roster once again

This PPV couldn't even sell out in Chicago - Smackdown's overall roster and story telling is absolute garbage right now

Tonight was the first time it truly felt like a B show to Raw

I didn't see the main event, but it seems like there was no other possible outcome. Vince needs more of that international $$$

RAW is still way worse than SD. There are no storylines at all on RAW lol

Just Angle saying "we handle our business in the ring" a million times.
